I don't know what's right, but I do know what I enjoy. Nonic pint for porters and stouts, then tulip or teku for every thing else. I'd probably use the teku all day long, but feel I need to rotate between glasses.

I wouldn't use it for every beer but I enjoy using it for most sessionable 12 ouncers. Thoughts?

Completely off topic, but what kind of opener is that in your picture?

Picked a pair of these for $1 each from the dollar store yesterday after reading another thread on here. My go to glass has been a Guiness tulip for some time.

[IMG] cant seem to get the dang picture to post in here.....

I like to use style appopriate glassware whenever possible, but if I could only use one glass, my stemless wine glass works pretty well, that's what I take with me when I go to beer tastings.

I USED my tulip for everything.

Then my roommate broke it and I don't have a Crate & Barrel anywhere near me to replace it with.

Glasses break so lately I've been Johnny Nonic-all-the-time. My overall Beer Experience hasn't seemed unduly affected by this but I'm a fairly stupid and imperceptive person, so who knows.

I've got a couple 10oz goblets that work great for most things. I also have a 9oz hour glass pilsener glass that has the waist a bit lower, and that works great for lagers and wheats. Since I am often stuck with the terrible 22oz bottles, I also keep a couple straight pint glasses around.

my go to beer glass is the New Belgium Globe. I have used various incarnations of it for years.

That is a newer Three Floyds bottle opener.

Indeed. Teo Musso (of Birrifico La Baladin) set out to devise a perfect vessel for analyzing all beer styles, similar to what the ISO tasting glass is for wine. The Teku (Teo Musso + Kuaska, the designer Teo collaborated with) was the end result.

I go back and forth between Duvel Tulip and an older bockfest pint glass, but always tulip for stouts, barleywines, and scotch ales.

If you want to get technical, it's a speed blade or bartender's opener. It's essentially a long, flat piece of stainless steel with a bottle opener on one end and a thumb hole on the other. Here's a pretentious video on how to use one:

The problem with the Duvel and New Belgium glasses above is the etched bottom, IMO. I own and use both glasses for certain beers, but I like the classic "Balloon" Tulip as an everyday glass. The two pictured below are my go to style. The first is a Bruery glass, the second is Founders.

Admit it, you're just jealous of his mad bottle opener twirling skills.

I didn't know they were called "speed blades," but I have one of those from DFH. It's a solid opener, but nothing special imo.

I've got the same one. What I've noticed is that the ones that DFH and other breweries sell branded are significantly shorter than the ones you'd find a bartender using.

If I had to guess, the value of these kinds of openers -- aside from the twirling, because come on, TWIRLING! -- is that the length gives you more leverage so you can open bottles faster and also use less force. This probably saves on tired hands.
