I wounder if anyone has been in the taproom and asked a Manager or hell even the brewer/owner about the limits and batch sizes. Are they dicks and dont talk to anyone or is it all just some ancient Chinese secret.

This is what I said as well, and I see nothing wrong with experimenting with it to see how it works out. At the very least OH should post case counts. The fact that they don't boggles my mind. It's a great way to manage expectations.

What's socialism got to do with anything? It's a business and I'm a customer. I personally have spent at least $2000 on OH beer in the past year. There's a finite number of people willing to pay $5+ for a can of beer, so it would be in their best interest to not alienate too many of them.

I get you 100%, that being said I don’t think they’d notice if you stopped being a customer.

Oh im definitely not against them lowering the limits, i just dont like when the thread (not calling you out specifically) says its all the line life and haze bois fault. Its not. Every customer is entitled to wake up at 4am, leave work early, get 4 full cases, whatever they want to do to purchase their beer. Thats all. I think overall we agree, the limits could be lower and itd be awesome if anyone could walk in whenever and grab a 4pack but until oh does something or even has a real reason to, i just dont see the point of judging the people buying it (again not calling you out specifically)

It's not so much NJ/LI hate as it is reseller hate. Many of the obvious mules on line every week are buying for stores and bars outside of OH's distribution footprint, so places in NJ and Suffolk County. Go to these bars any week and you'll find cans for sale at $10-$15 per.

Also, not many locals are driving to OH, so they're usually only buying as much as they can carry without a car.

I appreciate the case limit as I can only get to OH every so often. This past Saturday I woke up at 04:30 and drove two hours to be in line by 6:30am. Got a case of each for my own personal use. I wouldn’t do that if I were to only be able to walk away with a few four packs. I wouldn’t wait in line for that little amount of beer. If you want to ensure you get beer get there early and get what you want. Also Always and Forever is a 4-4 pack limit this Saturday.

Of course one person doesn't make a difference, but I doubt I am alone. The regional brewery scene is getting more competitive all the time. They don't have to cater to people like me now, but what about when there are 10 breweries within city limits putting out similar type/quality stuff with more consumer friendly practices? What about when LI and NJ get more of their own breweries pumping out great beers and people don't have to drive into the city or pay 100% markup in the grey market?

Coming from someone who’s profile reads from New York and has a Sneakbox picture. That’s a win right there

Touche. If I could have two location I would. I split my time between Ocean NJ and NYC.

Both of those things would reduce hype which OH finds most valuable right now. Getting the longest threads on BA, most likes on IG and thriving off of FOMOs is their greatest asset in a city full of great beer.

I miss the old other half. When lactose wasn't in every beer and they highlighted single hopped ipas. Now it's all ddh, lactose, 5 different hops, and 9% or above. Not to mention the crazy lines for a midweek release. Used to be able to get online by ten and make out with every beer available that day. Was also nice when 4 packs didn't all cost $20. Give me citra or Nelson for $16 a 4 pack. But I guess that's what happens with demand.

It's also what happens when a brewery needs to pay off big investments, i.e. Taproom, expansion, etc. It's no coincidence why they hardly can anything that won't sell for at least $18/4pk and most is higher. The words "DDH" adds a couple dollars on every 4pk sold, they likely can't afford to sell much lower ABV beer.

This thread is delivering today, well done everyone  ! We all should rent out OH for a couple of hours, go at it in person and down some beers !

Not to interrupt the fun, but this Double Dry Hopped Mylar Daydream is pretty amazing. Wait, amazing, but not so amazing to line-up for it if it comes out again.

Says the guy from Florida who has mules at Other Half. I'm aware of how they run their business and said above will not support them any further until they change their ways.

I've never seen or heard OH officially positioning themselves on this topic. But there can only be 2 reasons. 1- They don't see an ROI on doing so for their customers (ie time/labor costs) or 2- They keep it a mystery purposefully. My theory for this was shown with Tuesday's release & the supposed "double" Mylar batch on Sat. - so that they can manipulate hype by showing higher demand with lower supply.

    I don’t like that guy.....
Or.... 3- They just don’t give a Fuck.
Hopefully someday they will be like Trillium and u can just walk in anytime and get cans of something. Or open up a second location which I believe was their original plan.

I would imagine a self distributing brewery could hide a lot from the tax man.

Perhaps posting case counts could eff that up.
