Less bourbon this year? Still amazing. Happy Thanksgiving BAs!

Good morning BA! Have a great Thanksgiving holiday with your families. Looking forward to seeing all of your special bottles through the day. My family is going to a buffet in the afternoon for our family get together once again this year. Even though my mom retired from working out of state last year, we haven't done a proper Thanksgiving meal in a few years. All is fine with me, I haven't seen them any of them in months.

Fantastic as usual! Flavors of big toasted coconut, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, toffee, dark bread, marshmallow, and light coffee. Light balancing roast bitterness against sweetness; with an amazing creamy/silky/velvety medium body; light touch of sticky/chalky roast character and dryness. Glad it was easier to find this year. I bought a lot of it. Definitely my top favorite coconut beer, but there are plenty others I buy more often. Wish this was year round.

Insane DIPA as always. Bright hop flavors of lemon, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel, light pepper, and pine hops; with light honey, bready malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel, grass, spicy bitterness. Medium carbonation/body. Balanced sticky/resinous hops and creamy/grainy malts in the mouthfeel. Increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Highly drinkable and pretty crisp finishing. One of my top favorite DIPAs when fresh. Very juicy/dank on hop characteristics and not overly resinous, just the right amount. Mosaic hops are the best, this is probably first one I ever had with them included. Thankfully the availability has gotten better recently. The private equity deal last year might be the reason for that.

WOW, this is tasting mind blowing amazing. Flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, licorice, raisin, tobacco, leather, and light smoke/charred malt; with some mild herbal/piney hops. Bittersweet roast balanced finish; amazing creamy, silky, velvety, and lush full body. Slight increasing hop/roasted dryness. I can only hope they bring this beer back in one form or another. This does have a lot of similarities to Expedition in flavors; but it has more of a sweeter and less drying roast/char finish. Getting even more intense on the licorice/dark fruit complexity after 27 months since release. Got 1 more left yet. I keep finding random singles every so often.

Absolutely insane! Aromas and flavors of nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, marshmallow, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, molasses, raisin, and cherries. Light roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Some chalky roast and oak tannins. Lightly increasing bitter/char and tannic oak dryness. Never acrid or astringent. Insanely smooth, mildly increasing warming 16%, zero barrel booze. This one entered my top 20 when I reviewed it. Perfect barrel integration, with balanced fruity/nutty coffee and rich malt complexity. Glad I aged mine as with all of the barrel series. I find it interesting how they retired Mephistopheles, yet they still need to brew that beer in order to create this one. I can't complain though. Definitely will be stocking up on more. This is a world class stout. Best coffee stout I've ever had.

    Cheers

Cheers you all! Years ago I remember jumping on a webiste, I think it was this one, and declaring that I love beer. Thank you all for being so in love with beer too. Thanks for being persnickety and fussing over the beer and the right glassware. Thanks for liking food as much as beer and for making reviewing beer a tradition. I even have a dubbel so whose counting!

    Melvin Killer Bees.

Light cracker malt and only the faintest glimpse of citric grasses. Lemon, golden a bit paler than true amber. Light haze and scant bubbles to rise. The head is white and falls by popping . Leaves clinging and hugging the glass in sheets. Clean earth. Hops soften the cracker as you drink with a sweet grasses and a faint hints of lemon. Dry, just bubbly and finishes so cleanly and without any assertiveness in the bitter. Very well done. Peppery earth and rose petals. Delicate hops and a good blonde ale. I wonder what hops these were. Perfect cracker malt.

My Thanksgiving menu this year is Turkey with Caraway and Ancho Pan Sauce, Fried Potatoes with Leeks and Sage and , Lime scented Kale. My dessert is Pasilla Chile Cake with Raspberries and Coconut. I am serving this meal with Saison Dupont and all the lagers and ales you see here which are new to me today! Sixpoint Kold Schauer and Melvin Killer Bees. Oh dear and a Mexican Lager coming too! Happy Thanksgiving Beer Advocate!

I am drinking those beers now but I have to admit I ate that cake yesterday.

Rise and Shine BA, and Happy Thanksgiving!

It's a gorgeous, crisp Fall morning here in NJ.

I'm waking up with a fresh Bastard this morning and it's tasting better than ever.

Took the kids out of my wife's hair to give her a couple extra hours of solo sleep this morning.

With a one and a half week old newborn we're taking it easy this Thanksgiving. No dinner guests makes the prep work much easier. We do have a few relatives coming over this afternoon to see the baby, so I'm tidying up around the house.

    Have a great day everyone!

This is the best beer nobody likes in my opinion. Getting ready to pre-heat the oven and throw the bird in.

Does that have honey in it? I assumed from the name and label art -- I love beers with honey, it's an excellent ingredient!
