Ya I've seen it done on coffee tables and it looks really good so I think it'll translate nicely to the wall. I'm finding that yellow caps are a bit tough to come by though.

I bough a wooden end table and placed bottle caps on top sealed with resin. It is now my cigar table on my front porch.

VERY impressive! What is the story behind your collection? Grandpa leave you his legacy or do you buy, sell, trade? How many do you have?

I started and have been seriously collecting crowns since the 70's. I do "buy, sell, trade" and do attend a number of different shows (breweriana and bottle) to find crowns for my collection. I have around 14,000 different US beer crowns in my collection. I don't collect non US crowns or brands unless it a brand that originated in the US....

    Great way to display them.
My Dad has the same thing to display the fire badges he collects.

I see that my earlier post in this thread has had the pic deleted because I abandoned Photobucket in favor of Imgur.com. I make magnets with my caps and stick them to the underside of the heat ducts that run along the ceiling of my man cave. Not all of them show up in this pic, but there are almost 4,600 of them up there now. I only have room left for another 300-400 of them and then I'll start throwing them loose in a collection box.

Mothergoose03.... do you do any trading?

I am always looking for crowns that I don't have...

No I don't get into trading. If you know of any currently-available caps that you need I can put the beer on my beer shopping list and I'll drink the beer and send you the caps.

That collection is very impressive. I wonder if this will ever get to the point where the 'rare' ones become valuable and a trade community forms, sort of like baseball cards, poker chips etc..

I see you have multiples on your duct work. Any chance you'd let any of them go? Maybe to make room for some the the newer brands you've tried?

I collected caps for a year or so and started making an outdoor Yahtzee set with wooden cubes that I carefully sanded... I’m slowly plugging away at it but so far it looks pretty slick. Used matching caps on each face of the dice, though I’d imagine they’ll probably wear out.

I am late to this thread, but I used to save my caps for a colleague high school Art teacher until he went off of them as his medium of choice. I was suddenly stuck with a ton of caps until I was at the annual Troegs Harrisburg Street Fest & ran into Kris Whitman & her husband. As it turns out, they live in Lancaster Co., where I am from, in the city, but not far from my uncle's place. Problem solved! She now gets ALL of my caps with my choice of some of her creations of ones that I especially dig (Short's, Leinie's 150th, Riverhorse). Not all, actually, as I keep my rebus caps. Still, check out https://www.facebook.com/WhimsicalWondersByKris & if you have spent caps laying around, she'd love to have them!

I have a bunch of Short's caps that I won't use because I have too many on my ceiling project already. BM me with her address (or yours if she is shy about releasing that info) and I'll send some.

Collectors call people that craft with caps... "cap killers". I have actually taken older craft projects apart to get the caps from them. I know, its destroying someone's work but if that's what it takes to save some cap history, I think is worth the loss to the craft world..

This sounds silly... Wouldn't it be worse to just throw them away???!?
