Am I the only person that thinks Prop is mediocre...it’s liquid banana bread, but not beer. If I wanted to drink banana bread batter there are much cheaper options.

Coffee is the best it’s been in years.

    Reserve>regular>coffee>northwoods>Prop

BW is a different style so won’t rank it above, but it’s fantastic this year. Reminds me of 2013.

Anybody see any regular near Naperville/Warrenville, have a buddy looking? Doesn't have costco card.

Good luck pinning that on ABinBev - Binnys would be in far more danger of a lawsuit than GI or ABinBev.

Yea, they aren't a small brewery, but they are an ABinBev owned brewery so this kind of marketing is good to maintain their place in the craft beer market and keep the "sell out so no we hate them" crowd/publicity at bay.

    Actually I do ...

Included? sure, as will the city of Chicago, Chicago PD, the property owner, etc, etc ... But good luck. They'd likely get out via Summary Judgment quickly.

Cheers man! Way to pick out the one thing that really has nothing to do with the point and grasp onto it.

Around 1 PM today there was one case of regular left at Malloys in Lisle. Doubt it is there still, but might be worth a call.

It seems like you understand supply and demand due to your first paragraph so can you please explain "reasonable profit margin" and how it fits into supply and demand?

Very interesting range of opinions on this year’s lineup....people love or hate NW, and I heard a few folks say they thought prop 17 is the best BC beer ever.

I’m not arguing the economics, I am asking why any consumer would be on the side of the argument to raise prices? The manufacturer or retailer will figure that out, why would you ask for it?

I just had regular and it got to be too sweet for me. Granted, I had the most delicious chocolate cake with it, but I could barely finish regular. I don't remember it being like that last year.

I had Prop, coffee, and BW, and Reserve at Fountainhead. I found Prop to be amazing, loved coffee, and enjoyed BW. Reserve wasn't special but now that I have had regular, Reserve is a subdued version of regular and it needs it for me.

Regardless of all the issues of yesterday - this is why I love beer!

Bought my limit 2 bottles of Regular. I can’t decide if I want to give a bottle to a work friend of mine here in Michigan who loves stouts but couldn’t possibly get his hands on this stuff, or cellar it for a few years...leaning towards the former

I get that and it’s why I said I’m a little torn on the subject. But I don’t think anything about yesterday at Binny’s LP is beer advocatey either.

Just a few thoughts after a day or so of thinking about it and experiencing it all first hand.

1). Binnys may be able to ban tents ( don't think they should) on their own property but that won't stop people from pitching them when the line goes off of their property. Need to find a better system for the line as many pointed out. However, this was the first year this was as big of an issue (I've been to the last 3/4 releases there) and don't recall the line being this much of a mess.

2). Not sure if anyone mentioned it but I kinda felt bad for the truck drivers on the street near the transformers (sorry forgot the name). They could barely get through and some of them couldn't back into their lot because of all the cars parked on the opposite side of the street near the train tracks.

3). Don't advertise that you have Prop '14 and VR and only release a case of each. I know some on here somehow knew this was going to happen but kinda hard to take these comments seriously on BA sometimes. Just don't advertise this. Make it a surprise to the first few folks in line and "reward" them with it if you want. That alone would cut out quite a few from lining up so early if they knew there was such a small amount. It was a greedy move and Binnys knew what they were doing when they posted it. Vintage bottles are cool and all but as long as you have good limits people will still show up and you will still sell out of your stores allocation. Maybe stop selling vintage bottles all together? Or make it a surprise when you get to the register?

4). As others have pointed out there needs to be staff on site from the moment that first person gets in line to when the last bottle is sold. It's not good customer service the way it's been handled. I didn't see one binnys employee until I got inside. It's GI's beer but it's your store. Not sure why I saw their staff making the rounds and not yours. Oh, Definitely needed more checkouts as well.

5). Port-a-johns were gross. Also, they didn't even have any sanitizer or washing stations that I could tell. At a minimum that should exist.

That's funny, I thought Prop '17 is the best variant I've had since Prop '14... and Coffee '17 was by far the worst Coffee from any BC Coffee year I've had (and I've had them all from '12 to most recent). It tasted overly bitter and more like green peppers on the nose and in the taste than any coffee beer I've ever had.

...and I loved Prop AND Coffee (maybe I don't know what green peppers taste like? I get none), but thought Northwoods and Reserve were super boring.

That's the fun of this, as others have noted!!
