Monkish (November 2017)

Lol. We’ve got the same type of dudes on the Other Half threads talking shit about anyone who gets cans at Other Half. Guess some things are universal.

 

The difference is that other half has a set time. This is random and you see that at the beginning of the week, it's the hardcore that hang around. But if by Thursday there's no release on a week where one is suppose to happen, friday becomes a shit show of early birds waiting.

I have nothing against the cans. If you happen to be in the area when they drop, cool. But I've been to them too many times to care anymore. On draft is fine, out of growler is great. And I've seen the ugly side of things in seeing the razzles and hearing from folks I know who participate in that flipping game. Cans are more often than not just fodder for flipping. be it in trades or in razzles.

It's not shit talking. It's straight up observation.

 

I like the one dude who will post a pic of a bunch of cans nearly every release, then be like I need to trade for stuff I can age and not have to worry about drinking right away. Monkish got the fomo on lock.

 

Oddly enough, Monkish ages really well. Had a year vert of releases back in April and a lot that I thought was going to be malt bombs were still tasting fantastic. 2-3 months on it isn't anything

 

All I know is that I've had Cans and Growler Fills of Monkish all week and it was amazing. What a memoriable thanksgiving week. CHEERS yall

I had Foggier Window and Xylophone Tones from a growler and Thanksgiving, everyone was completely blown away. Papaya and pineapple was commonly used to describe each. Need more ASAP.

 

Yup. I've stopped being afraid of aging cans more than a month if it's a double. JFK2LAX took me three months to get the last can guzzled down, and I thought it was fantastic.

I wish my single can of Molotovish I had saved for longer than a month....that thing was packing some heat.

Had 2-1 this past weekend. Probably the softest and palate-friendly batch I've had.

Scored a rainbow hop teku, awesome! Was going to go on Black Friday but figured they would release these for Cyber Monday as well and didn't want to waste the time. Patience paid off.

I live on the East Coast, so perhaps I don't "deserve" the cyber Monday merch any more than someone who actually regularly goes to Monkish, but I thought this sale was absurd. Glasses sold out in less than a minute. I had a rainbow teku in my cart, and when I checked out they were all gone. If you have any item that will sell out within a minute, just sell it at the brewery instead of giving false hope to people who can't otherwise go to Monkish and stand in line for hours.

Personally I don't get the Teku thing at all. They released these Friday at the brewery, they opened early, around 12:45 and the line was already 250 deep for freeken glasses,don't get me wrong I am a big Monkish buyer, just beer though, but I guess I just cannot get my head around waiting in line 2+ hours for a CHANCE at two beer glasses and the craze these things create whenever they are released. Oh by the way I do own unmarked Teku's as part of my stemware collection, like the glass as a delivery system for good beer.

I enjoy collecting glassware, but if it's not an online sale I don't really see the point. Waiting in line for a glass is dumb, especially if the glass is identical in size and style to a glass you already own, with the branding on the glass being the only difference. The beer won't taste any different.

 

I'm lazy, I just want things to show up instantaneous without having to put on pants and or leave the house.

 

People wait for glassware? That is crazy! Even if someone told me they were drinking out of a super limited glass I wouldn't care.
