Or why not just announce every store that is getting stuff and then in exchange for the "opportunity to sell BCBS" every store must open at 9am and release it at that time. See 12 people at line at mom and pop and see that store is only getting a case? Move to store B. If there are smaller lines outside more stores it becomes a heck of a lot harder to double your allocation by bouncing around to different stores, especially if the opening day/time is the same.

Shame on me I guess for going all the way over there just to find out he was gouging to that extreme. I understand supply and demand, but does Goose Island really let retailers sell at ANY price they dream up? Give that he has Prop 2016 and Rare 2015 there as well, I'm assuming he's been attempting to sell them for a while. Vrundmc is probably the Miska Store owner on this thread.

2 years ago (the year of the infection) I went to the Southport Jewel around 10 AM to buy toilet paper, saw a huge line and realized it was for Bourbon County. I got a full allotment. It all went bad (I do still have the Regal Rye), but that was a nice surprise. Sounds like it was much more crowded this year.

I'm pretty sure @vrundmc is not the owner of that store. As far as I know, he has no affiliation with them at all.

Gold Crown in Wrigleyville has reg and BW. Also had a rare on the counter. Didn't ask price, but figured I'd let the group know.

Man, I was a little salty on how my BCBS experience went in the burbs so I stayed off this board.. WHAT A MISTAKE! Hahah spent some time catching up from Friday morning on. Sounds absolutely insane, very glad I did not make the trek downtown.

I went to Glen Ellyn Binnys at 4:30am. Wife and I were 25 and 26th in line, and they ended up having 2 cases of Reserve and Northwoods. So those literally bit it the person in front of me. We left with 4 regs, 2 coffee, 2 barleys and 2 props. I was bummed on the Reserve and NW. Then, my mom calls me. She was at Jewel that morning, saw a line and just jumped in it- called me and told me she got me "this beer people were in line for". She took their full allotment- 3 regular, a coffee, a BW and a prop. So I'm a little salty the Reserve and NW sold out .1 person in front of me, but that was cool of her.

Then, Sunday I heard Ardmore was doing their member card release. Went over there an hour before, shared some great beers, my wife and I ended up getting 2 reserve and 2 NW there along with 2 more regs.

All ended up well in the burbs for this guy, even after lining up early as balls and being shut out on NW and Reserve at Binnys.

Just curious, what’s everyone’s breaking point for variants price wise. I was in a place on Saturday, and Northwoods was for sale for $40. I passed, but damn if it didn’t pick it up and put it back down and think about it.

    I think $30 my limit.

$40 is probably my limit. I reason that it's like restaurant prices... Ridiculous, I know.
Won't pay above Binnys retail for coffee though. I just make my own. You can experiment with different beans and don't run the "green pepper" risk.

Beer is a bit like bourbon to me, I am willing to go like $10-15 over but after that I am out.

Edit: I straight up wont do that buy x to get y. fuck that

None whatsoever. Who knows, maybe some value paying that much...I don't judge. I will say if I was the owner, I wouldn't have been out at LP on BF.

I hear a lot of folks advocating for no drinking policy.

You should know the cops were at LP for a significant amount of time watching people drink.

I couldn't help but laugh as I walked by seeing that.

However, that is something Binnys can control. Obviously if the cops don’t care, they probably don’t either, but they could easily enforce the “if you’re caught drinking, we won’t sell to you”

This is actually the other Prestige, down on Ogden. And I did actually hit up the one on Cass this year and they were selling bottles straight up, so the policy may have changed.

I went through the same through process for the same bottle at the same exact price, but made the other decision. Ha ha. Ended up buying 2. I definitely am not in the habit of paying whatever places are asking just because they have beers I want. But, I was out of town on black friday and figure at this point $15 over non-price gouged retail is not all that bad to not have to hunt around. I'd probably be trading $40 in beer to land one. Also, other than buying a few regulars for $9.99 at a Jewel, all of my BCBS has come through trading, so my spending is pretty low so far.

For Northwoods that'd be my absolute limit. I'd pay up to $50 for a Prop. Totally get that I'm being "part of the problem" by paying those prices. But, it's pretty rare for me to want a beer enough to do that.

One comment I'd like to make on the immediate/constant ticketing:

Why should some poor Binny's employee (or 2 or whatever) be forced to forego their Thanksgiving just because beer nerds are dumb enough to line up 24 hours in advance for a release? I realize other companies are actually open on Black Friday and their employees have to work, but I honestly don't think the line cutting before about 7 am is bad enough to warrant potentially ruining someone else's Thanksgiving.

Just my opinion, but I think people should just be a little more civilized. (I also think the line cutting that actually significantly harms anyone is minimal - do away with vintage bottles and 1-1000 all get the same beer).

After hearing about a bunch of people paying ridiculous prices in 2015 and get burned, I'm really reluctant about paying a ton of money for this stuff.

Costco Bloomingdale has about 2.5 pallets worth of regular. $8.89 ea, no limit, if anyone is just looking to stock up on more regulars.

So I stopped at a local shop by me that I don't really frequent anymore because their craft selection has gone down hill.

I thought I might strike lightning in a bottle and thought I got lucky when I saw one lonely Coffee on the shelf...

Then I saw that they wanted $42 for it...

Then I saw that it was from 2015.
