Any Logan Squarians ..... if you’re willing to drop $40 for northwoods.... my local spot has about two cases on the floor. Plus a shit ton of regular and 16 & 17 barleywine.

I definitely agree about making employees work on Thanksgiving. Shouldn't happen unless they are offering overtime, people volunteer to work that shift, etc. I'm not in favor of ruining anyone's Thanksgiving.

Regarding the line cutting though, were you there on Friday? The whole scene was pretty chaotic when I got there a bit before 6. Until the line finished condensing around 7:30, it was kind of a free for all. Maybe you were there, but if you weren't, I'm not sure anyone's description of what went down in that time frame can really do it justice.

I also agree, people should be a little more civilized. But a number of them weren't. Whether it was cutting, profusely drinking, littering, or all the above. You get a crowd like that and some mob mentality going with no staff there to regulate, weird shit is going to happen. If there's one thing we've learned about human behavior - provide something very reinforcing to them in a limited amount (i.e. BCBS variants in this situation) with few or loose parameters on how to get said reinforcer, and they'll engage in some pretty egregious behavior to get it. Sometimes even people who normally would never think about engaging in such behavior outside of the situation.

So it's likely going to have to be further regulated in some way. Unfortunately.

I considered that Binny's, but glad I didn't based on your timeframe. I would've been a bit farther back than you. Glad it all worked out for you. Although, it could have been worse. You could've waited 7.5 hours in line, found out 7+ hours in variants just ran out, and walked away with only reg and barley. Like my dumbass did. Fortunately, due to some solid Ba's that knew my disaster of a day, they spared some extras of their haul to sell to me. At face value I might add. Also should have a Prop 17 tomorrow from a trade and I didn't have to give up one of my children to get it. So all in all a happy ending for me too in spite of what was a pretty awful LP experience.

I guess my point is your balls could've been way saltier. And you've got a sweet MILM! My mom would never do that for me. And I guess to everyone else, there are good people out there. So cheers to the decent folk out hunting, drinking, and trading BCBS this year! And to the guy selling a case of BCBCS for $475 on a Chicago Beer forum right now, I think the spirit of Thanksgiving went a bit over your head, bro.

I've paid 29 for Prop and Reserve. 15 I think for coffee. 25 for Northwoods.

Loganite here; I'd love to stock up on some regular if you don't mind sharing. I got mine at Go Tavern at about 5pm day of release, might swing by to get some more if they still have.

If they aren't willing to hire people to work on a holiday so they can control the event, stop hosting the event.

They're driving 2000 people to line up with the promise of full allotments and (what used to be) a guaranteed purchases just by showing up. They are literally begging people to line up on Thanksgiving by promising rare vintages. If they want to continue doing this event, major changes have to happen and it's going to take dozens of people working from BEFORE the first person lines up.

For those wanting Prop, Reserve, and Coffee to drink onsite, Bottoms Up in Naperville has it. $45, $47, and $30 respectively. Four bottles of Reserve left as of 10 minutes ago. I know somebody that's there right now.

I decided to go to a store today that I haven't been to in a while. I thought it burned down due to an electrical fire, but their open sign was on so I went it. I couldn't believe my luck, I saw a bourbon county original stout on the shelf! Then I looked at the price, it was $35! On top of that it was an older bottle, I believe it was from 2007. I couldnt believe that they were trying to sell such an old bottle for such a high price when my local jewel is selling fresh bourbon county original stout for only $9.99 and its from this year (2017)

Line drinking is eliminated, but it seems like it's I a CYA kind of way. You know, "hey, we said no drinking--we're not liable for the dude who needs an ambulance at a beer release!"

Having been to bottle releases where there was no drinking going on--it's possible to enforce and pretty easy too, since Binny's doesn't even need the law on their side. They can just refuse sale to anyone with open containers.

I'm not sure if banning the line until that close to the release is much more feasible. Then you're just gonna have people doing their best to loiter in the area and make a beeline for the door right before line up time.

Completely unrelated question: what beers have you missed out on recently...?

Agreed. The line cutting us just a symptom of a larger problem.

I’d like to see the DL day system here. Release a certain amount of tickets onsite to take care of locals, release the rest online with timed pickup windows.

    There, problem solved.

Anyone know of any places that have Reserve and or Northwoods in the Southwest burbs? Only two I missed out on.

If you're looking for regular and barleywine, Cheap Cheap Liquors has cases of both. They're over priced at $12.99 and $16.99 respectively.

Really easy way to fix the Binnys issue. At 9am start going through the line and handing everyone a scratch ticket. If you win you can by an allotment , if not too bad so sad. Do not announce this ahead of time.

After one year of this, and the butt hurt on beer advocate, no one will start lining up at 6pm the night before.
