Got a full allotment from Big Red in G'wood. Got there about 6:45 and spent abouy an hour in line. When I got there the line was about halfway around the back of the building.

I wonder how many full alotments they had. The manager told me to "be in the first 100," but seemed like there could have been 2-300 in line at open.

I'd guess I was somewhere around 200th in line, hard to tell. I heard one of the managers make a comment that after a guy maybe 50 behind me they were changing the approach in some way, so maybe they were almost out of one of the variants, not sure.

So other than regular, BW, coffee, and NW are other variants on draft around Indy? Not seeing anything on Untappd.

Not Sure. I had to drive quite a bit to get there, and so am not in indy (and do not follow the taps =/). Wish I had access to coffee and BW on tap though. Would love to try them without opening my bottles! Will be first time trying Coffee.

Wonder if anyone ended up going back through the line. Had people around saying they did in previous years (and successfully got multiple coffee), but this year seemed not possible?

If I had to guess, they were likely going to be out of one or more of the variants. Might have had more regular or BW though.

Wish people had cleaned up their bottles. Pretty disgusting behavior. This is the type of behavior that makes me want to NOT go to beer tests because I worry it will be nothing but those guys.

Alright, moving on to the next release. Anybody know where and when Founders CBS will be hitting in the Indy-ish area?

I'd guess Friday for most places. A couple of places have said they will have it on tap and Khan's has an event for their 9 am opening. They just say allotment is based on turnout though, so who knows how much they got.

To add to what Willi said, I know most places normally get their founders deliveries in Indiana ON friday. That said, if Khan's is having an event on Friday, I wonder if some got it in early. A couple places local to me (NOT Indy) have told me they don't even know if they are expecting it, as it was not on their order sheet. No idea if they are pulling the wool over my eyes, if I talked to the wrong guy, or they genuinely have no idea. Hope it is plentiful. Just. 1. bottle.

I talked to an employee of a good-sized liquor store outside Indianapolis today and he said they had already received their allotment. He also said he was pleasantly surprised by how much they got, quite a bit more than what he was expecting. Was also told Founders is doing a nice job of discouraging retailers from jacking up the prices beyond the suggested retail price. All good news.

Good news. Founders seemed to do a good job distributong their barrel aged series this year. It has all been pretty plentiful in southern Indiana. Happy hunting Friday!

The Cork in Columbus got what appeared to be 3 cases of CBS today. I'm happy to have netted 2 bottles.

Back to Indiana beer. 450 North is releasing a milk stout with chocolate next Friday. I can't wait! Had their Barn Beast (formerly Barn Yeti) again this week, and enjoyed it thoroughly. If you've never made the trip down here, I'm telling you it's worth it.

I'm curious how quick everyone saw CBS go (and how much of it there was) in their respective areas. As best I could tell, Bloomington got only 1 case. No idea why big red in Bloomington got none - wierd to me.

I got mine in Columbus early. A friend told me he got some around noon and it was almost gone. It looked like they got 3 cases total.

Alright, it's stout season, and we've spent a whole page talking about stouts from our neighbors. What are your favorite Indiana stouts?

    Hunter - 18th At
    Teddy Bear Kisses - Upland
    Espress-O Face - Burn'em
Evasion (Death and Taxes) - Taxman

probably my favorite though is Crack the Skye - FFF

Of Truly Indiana brews, Death and Taxes is by far the best that I have had. It really IS fantastic. I bought several bottles for friends and myself last year and I ended up sending all but 1 away. This year I really hope to go to D&T day and get a bottle of the variants. Really liked the coconut. Wife loved the blueberry (best fruit in a stout I have had, too.)

I haven't had any of the big 3F stouts, but I feel like those should be excluded anyway.

Next on my list would probably be Black Acre BA Beard Tax.

Haven't had too many others, honestly. I am a Deviate member, but I have sent all my bottles to friends, so haven't had any of their BA stuff yet. Regular stouts do not generally do much for me, so not commenting there generally.

On my quarterly stop at Pat's Liquors in NWI, she talked me into grabbing a bottle of Heaven's Court from the Devil's Trumpet (Merrillville). Bourbon barrel aged Russian Imperial Stout.

Anyone had it? Pat's a great saleswoman & made it sound like liquid nirvana, but I'm tempering my expectations.

I have had a few things from Devil's Trumpet, not that stout in particular , but nothing was memorable at all FWIW. Perhaps this is something new and actually good? I'd you try it, I would be curious as to how it is.
