For comparison GI Clybourn was $8 for a 5 oz pour of regular.

I've always thought the reason MI gets screwed with BCBS is because our "portfolio" is too good for GI to compete with it.

I think it's more that we don't buy any of the other goose island products

That's what @Lazhal was saying, we have too many good breweries/beers for Michiganders to mess w/Goose/ABI products

Allocations are no longer just about GI sales the year prior; it’s about ABInBev sales, so these big chain grocers are rewarded with (relatively) large allocations of BCBS because of all the Bud/Bud Light they move. Generally, I see people adding their case of Bud to their groceries as opposed to a special trip to the often-more-expensive craft beer store. Obviously there are notable exceptions, specifically related to the local market.

I love it when you find a bcs on the shelf and you bring it up to buy and the lady that owns the place wont sell it to you because you are “not a regular”

F you! I will never be a regular and your lucky I didnt “accidently” knock over a bottle or 2 as I left

I've had that happen to me for a different release locally in Grand Rapids. It was a 4 bottle limit but I could only buy one because the clerk didn't recognize me as a regular. I set the bottle down on the ground and walked out.

Walking out is the right thing but smashing is more fun.

They had a bottle of sazarac for $15 over state min and a stagg jr for $30 above state min. Those would have been great things to accidentally smash.

As much fun as that would be, I'd hate to have to be forced to give a store my money if they were to try to get police involved. Instead I just let everyone I know and blast them on social media...typically that does more damage in the long run.

It's reasons like that that I didn't even go out looking this year. My local store, although a little higher priced, guaranteed a bottle of regular and 2 variants (barleywine, northwoods). He put my name on his list, I walked in Friday afternoon and walked out. Would i like more? Sure, of course. But it's not worth it to me and I'm surely not going to offer a bunch in trade to get any either...too many good options here in West Michigan.

You should of totally smashed some of their property and then threw yourself on the ground and kicked and screamed and made a scene right there in the store. At least that's what I do when I don't get my way.

Well said. Have you had Witch's Hat Rye Whisky Night Fury? If so tell me that doesn't blow BCBS out of the water

No need to be sorry but I strongly suggest trying it if opportunity ever arrives. Had it the night before having a BCBS and found it to be more enjoyable. Found it to have more whisky barrel flavor along with a creaminess that I did not find in BCBS. But it may actually be harder to track down.

Anybody know of any bottles of regular lingering around Grand Rapids. I was out of town last Friday through the weekend and didn't want to BCBS hunt in an area that I didn't know. I'm just looking for a 1 or 2 bottles of regular. Send a PM.

Stopped into the D&W on 28th St tonight in GR and they hand some BCBS in the cooler. probably a case or so and no limit. Kinda random but a welcome surprise...
