Next person who goes to the brewery needs to ask if the porter will last until Wednesday.....please!?

 

When I stopped in earlier today and asked how long they expected ghost pigeon to last they didn't have an estimate. I doubt they want to over promise on how long things will be around with how fast some of their brewery tap releases have disappeared in the past.

We just tapped some Premeditated Murder at Prime and have a cask of Coffee Ghost Pigeon Porter that we"ll be throwing on this Tuesday.

 

I was there around 6pm and picked up some Barleywine. Rob went in the back with a pitcher to bring out a taste of the Porter.

I mean, there are no hops in Porter so the masses probably will not piss their pants over it .

 

Bot is basically gone from Amity already. There were 2 4pks left today after I left - Amity guys say they don't expect any more. Don't understand how Fairfield people complain about not getting any - it lasts for a week or two NEXT TO THE BREWERY. gotta take care of your home turf first.

edit: it is still on at the brewery though.. just go get a growler!

also, the Porter is really good. haven't tried the Premeditated yet but picked up a couple bottles.. looking forward to it.

I was just in a half hour ago and Rob says he has "plenty" and expects it to last "quite a while" - i would be surprised if it's gone by Wednesday.

 

Were the PM bottles at Amity or NEB?

 

I don't think there are any at Amity (yet?). I got mine at NEB. $6, .5 L... pretty decent price for a 12% barleywine. also, the labels are awesome. also, no surprise to anyone who's had it, i'm sure, but Galaxy is drinking amazing. if you have an extra growler.. bring it

 

there were 2 cases on the floor when I was there today. I got 2 4pks. I also tried the porter and it is delicious!!! I'd say it's even approaching Everett levels....."approaching". I just couldnt bring myself to fill a growler of it when the Gandhi Bot is drinking so beautifully right now.

 

I'm somewhere in CT every six-eight weeks or so, and I for one don't care if GB isn't available at any particular time when I'm in the NEBCO zone. It's a great beer, and if it's there I'll buy some. If not, maybe it will be there next time, I'll live. But I always buy a sixer of Sea Hag while I'm there anyway, 'cause it's good and we can't get it in MA any more

 

the other thing I saw when I was there were a couple of barrels. The gentleman at the taps said they were rum barrels and presently have barley wine in them. I was kinda surprised when he said rum cuz one had the Labrot & Graham firebrand on it and that means it's a Woodford Reserve barrel. Interesting to see the way barrels get around after theyve been used for bourbon

You are correct on the rum barrels with barley wine. Wait a year for that and that will be limited. I would say if you want to get pm, get it before next weekend at the brewery because probably sell out with final Friday.

don't seem to be any premeditated reviews as of yet. can i get some descriptions / opinions?

i'm in NYC until halloween and will probably miss this entire batch (though i'll be eating lunch in new haven on the 27th, so maybe some will be around). excited for the barleywine; NEBCO likes to hit homeruns.

 

Bought some Sea Hag and 668 at Harvest in West Hartford yesterday on a trip down from Boston area. It's my first time trying some NEBCO beers so I'm happy the Sea Hag lives up to the talk. It's a tasty IPA for sure.
