After deciding (because I was concerned I’d miss my flight if I had to check my bag) to leave my 2 bombers of CBS in South Bend (it was like leaving behind a treasured, recently discovered friend), I decided to dance with Monkish for the first time. That was a wise decision - juicy hop-bomb extraordinaire, IMHO.

Good evening BA, happy Friday! Hope everyone is enjoying the start of the weekend once again. Pretty busy day finishing up a presentation for the integration team. Had an afternoon meeting, then made a quick edit for them to explain the data in a different way. Had a quick meeting at the end of the day, so they understood what we need to do next.

    Today's reviews:

This is pretty nice. White color is interesting. Good head retention from streaming carbonation. Some solid lacing as well. Aromas and flavors of lightly tart lemon, key limes, citrus zest, vanilla, cream, and white sugar. Very mild citrus tartness and zesty bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; vanilla creaminess, and slight slick/syrupy in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing tart/bitter/carbonated dryness. No cloying sweetness. Very flavorful/refreshing. Not overly sweet/syrupy. Tastes like a cross between cream soda and 7-up. Really enjoyable. 3.68

New brewery to me, got a coffee version as well; but figure I should have the base beer first. Excellent cream ale! Great head retention and lacing down the glass. Aromas and flavors of big cracker, corn, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuity malts; with light pear/apple yeast fruits and herbal/grassy/peppery hops. Mild herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, light-medium body; and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Nice bready/grainy malt mouthfeel, with light hop stickiness. Lightly increasing bitter dryness. Super refreshing. Pretty much perfect example of the style, zero complaints. Very flavorful/not watery for 5%. Clean bready malt/corn flavors; with mild hop balance and restrained yeast ester character. Can't wait to try the coffee now. Just so delicious. 4.05

Awesome DIPA! Amazing lasting head retention and thick lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced bready/grainy creaminess, hop stickiness, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very easy drinking and not overly aggressive. Super dank, vibrant, and juicy hops; balanced bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. Perfect balance between citrus, fruity, tropical, and earthy/spicy hop complexity. They mention Ella, Mosaic, Falconers Flight; but there is probably Columbus, Simcoe, and Citra going on as well(6 hops). I really loved this, will definitely grab again next time I go to Ohio. 4.13

Amazing! Great head retention/lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, raspberries, raisin, plum, fig, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, licorice, and smoke. Light roast bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spice on the finish. Medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Slight slickness, chalky roast, and oak tannins. Slightly increasing roast/tannic dryness. Never acrid/astringent. Insanely dangerous sipper; mildly increasing warmth of 14%, zero barrel booze. I LOVE fruit stouts, so I knew this would be a winner. Perfect balance of raspberries and rich/complex base stout malt complexity. Amazing barrel integration, never boozy, tannic, or overly drying. I still have 2 other new BBA variants to review soon: Vanilla/Cinnamon and Krakatoa(chili peppers). Can't wait. Also got another reg to drink some time in the future as well. Much better price this year, with a higher ABV. 4.35

Featuring the return of CBS, one of two Founders beers that have been personal white whales of mine (the other being Better Half)... But I'm starting off with this...

A collab between Equilibrium in Middletown, NY, and The Answer in Richmond, VA...

Brewed with Mosaic and Galaxy hops, this presents a brightly juicy and citrusy character - suggestions of pineapple, orange, grapefruit, green mango and lime, undercut with a mild dankness to add some gravity and roundness to the profile... The feel is lush and plush with super-soft feel and a nice tingle of tanginess... No canning date but just added to the site about 10 days ago, so its gotta be super-fresh... A NE-style juice beer on par with the best...

A nod to remembering how it seemed, back in the day...

Hubbard's Cave Fresh IIPA V8 (Citra/Simcoe). Haven't had a hoppy beer by these guys in a while...they are really dialing in the haze. I'm sure it's the 750 format, but I'm still surprised these guys don't get more hype in Chicago honestly. Straight juice.
