I believe I've only hunted once and it was for Lagunitas High West-ified. This was mainly because it was $13.99 plus tax per 6er. Anything for $25+ for 2 - 12 ounce beers technically is not worth it for me. I would be more pissed off I spent that much for 2 beers than actually enjoying it.

    I am married with children.
“Oh honey, I’m gonna wait on line for a beer”
First I am LMAOff just thinking I said that out loud to my wife or if my kid said,
    “Daddy, where are you going?”
“Oh sweetie, I’m gonna wait on line for the liquor store to open to get a hard to get beer”
    “Daddy..huh?”
“Then I’m going to drive to the next store to see what they have”
“Does Mommy know this” LOLOLOL (snort, snort)
Yes I snort/laughed as I am typing this.....

    Full disclosure:
OK.. for real I have 3 go to places.
Cable beverages bardonia NY off RT 304 NY, growler and gill nanuet NY And total wine river edge NJ.
Visited the NY places see my beer haul on my instagram beerdjk1
NJ did not get CBS yet as I asked.

My 2 places founder CBS all gone. (Not surprised)
NJ maybe i can get 1 ..maybe.

I am lucky for what I got so far.
I got my stash of regular BCBS.
1 BCBS coffee variant First time ever!
Had BCBS barlywine variant last year.
Never had Tweak or bells black note stout or bourbon barrel aged tenfiddy.
    Now I do.
So for a “family guy” I think I did pretty good.

    PS
so there are more brewers in Queens NY aside from Singlecut (LOL!) as I got an IPA from Finback Brewery
And Got more fresh Industrial Arts brewery NEIPA “Wrench”
    AND
Fresh A-GAME IPA from Alementary Hackensack NJ!.
I think I’m doing OK as a craft beer enthusiast.

I’m not a hunter but if given the chance to try a beer I’ve never had before, I’m for it. Had CBS on tap last Friday..(I didn’t wait in line for the bottle). While appreciating the chance to try it, I was left underwhelmed. There’s so many good things in my neck of the woods these days that I don’t need to journey around for (a) great beer.

I think I will snap a photo every time I walk by a tough beer. It will be cool to look back and remember them. I will try to post them too

    Enjoy

Yes and no. I'll wait in a shortish line if I'm sure that I'll get what I want and feel that it is worth it. Beyond that, if I happen to stop in the store and can work with the price, then I'll grab some. If not, well, there is plenty enough beer out there to keep me happy.

I want to get a taste of CBS, this coming week. A future trip to NE, and a drive through California, and then I can call it a day.

I went all-in with trading my first year on here (well, it is the reason I joined), but lately I've slowed it way, way down. Almost to a halt except for some in-person trades. As a first year, I didn't believe people, but there is so much good beer on the shelves here that I really don't ever need to trade to try new things. Is it a bonus - sure - but I'm done pursuing FT:ISO lists on profiles to try and get new things.

There for a while, I'd stop at as many as three or four stores on my way home to find something. Anymore, I make a stop at two trusted stores throughout the week, and if they have what I'm seeking - great! If not, well, there is still a lot of other great stuff I can pull from the shelf to consume.

I'd like to pick up CBS, but I'm not driving around aimlessly to find it. I'll stop at a store tomorrow after work. If they don't have it, it looks like I'm not getting it. To much good stuff to play exclusivity games that result in me paying $25 for a 750mL bottle.

My “hunting” was broken at Proclamation. I waited outside for an hour in February for 2 bottles of a sour. No beer is that good.

There is way too much good beer out there these days go through some of these crazy hurdles.

For the BCBS release I got on two lists, then spent about two hours stopping at six stores with 1-4 bottle limits, managing to scrounge a case. Stood in one line for 10 minutes. Then got two more bottles @$8.86ea the next day at Costco, and could have had another 3 cases there if the wife had not been along.

CBS seemed like less of a hunt. Got on lists at the same two places, then stopped at another two and got one bottle at each. Time spent was under an hour, much of it in the car. Might have been able to get a couple more, but given I'd never tried it, and the price, I decided four was good.

Do these examples count as hunting?

I have never hunted, or stood in line, for beer. If I see something sitting on the shelf at a liquor store, or hear one of the employees talking about something that just came in, then I might pick it up depending on the price. I'll never understand how waiting in line for hours on end, or driving around the city for multiple hours looking for beer is worth it.

I don't have any problem finding beer I want to drink, whether it's CBS or the bazzillion other tasty beers that are out there to buy.

CBS was the first beer ive really hunted in sometime...it was one of the best beers that I've had previous to this year's bottling and i knew i wanted to get a few to hold me over(i did)..otherwise I'm pretty happy with the usual selections I can get at the local beverage spots or breweries and i dont see myself driving around ike I did for CBS again for the foreseeable uture

My beer quest has been simple: Try new beers when you find them for as long as you live. And don't sweat it. And it's been 50 years..

My local is tapping CBS at 4:00 PM on Tuesday. I will walk there and have one.

So many beers have found me in the last 5-6 years. People saying you need to try this at brew club meetings, or at NHC.

The Mrs. and I travel a lot, so we try things in their place of origin. The world is full of good beer if you drink what the locals point out to you.

My first "hunting" season in Houston has proved to be... easy. I don't need to hunt. I found 10 cases of BCBS this past weekend at a Total Wine proving I will never need to hunt as long as i live down here or wake up early or stand in a line. Also, CBS will be at the Spec's stores this Wednesday I was told. Pretty sure I won't need to hunt, but I will buy a lot of CBS! Black Crack, also, has been easy to find. Who knew..?

It is funny to me how many people get to actively choose to not pick up these rare and gone bottles. Crazy coincidence that you're in your bottle shop for the 30 minutes they are available and yet you choose to not buy them.
