The same reason Bells Black Note sits on shelves and was for sale at the company store a month after the release. I wonder if its still there?

This will becomes a problem for breweries down the road, the whole supply exceeding demand thing. Just look at how much Backwoods Bastard is still for sale...

I'd rather see the liquor stores police that, than pay more money out of my own pocket for the safety net.

The good stores in town here won't sell more than 1 per person for the first several days. That's more than fair.

Also FWIW -- The stores in here in Bloomington IL are all selling on 12/1

I love that beer and bought a single bottle this year. Just too much in the basement.

I think that really is going to vary by location. For example...

I know it will also be for sale all over Champaign-Urbana on Dec. 1. It's already sitting at the distributor, maybe in the back of some stores depending on when they get their Founders delivery. Not to mention a whole bunch of Jewel stores in Chicagoland will have it for sale Dec. 1.

My comment was more directed at the MSRP and not stores upcharging. $25 min for a 750 is expensive. Even if stores limit each person to 1 per, that person can go to multiple stores (as many as they can find!). Ideally, the $25 min (probably closer to $30 if I had to guess at most places, given what the prices were for KBS) will hopefully deter some from hoarding too much.

The irony of living 2 hours away from the brewery. Gotta love Michigan distribution.

    2018 Calendar being released.

    - Breakfast stout will be available year round starting now
    - Backwoods Bastard will be available year round starting in March
    - 6 barrel aged beers again with BB being one and KBS being one. 4 surprises.

I was just reading this as well. Pretty interesting the Backwoods Bastard is available year-round. They really have quite a barrel program to be able to do that.

I thought it was interesting that their Imperial Stout is off the calendar. I always thought of that as their "base" stout and that it was pretty well thought of.

Imperial Stout is one of my favorite no frills stouts. Does this mean we wont see it at all this winter?

That's what it seems like. I think they released it in January-February, so I think you'll have to wait until at least 2019 to see it.

Let the speculation begin as well in terms of what the other barrel aged beers are going to be.

There is a "year round #2" on the calendar that is not specified, it starts in March. Could possibly be imperial but not sure why they wouldn't specify it by name.

Imperial stout is not being produced next year, according to Founders.

It'd also be weird for that to be it, as they specifically called out Imperial Stout as not returning. I was curious what Year Round #2 will be, though. Looks like we won't have to wait too long to find out.

Wow, that's disappointing. That only leaves one new BA series beer to be announced. And it probably won't be til the December one. Anyone feeling Black Biscuit????

BA FIS can be the only (partly) acceptable answer.

I am pretty sure that will be “Solid Gold” lager. As they have announced it will be year round and it isn’t included on the list.

Last weekend was my 2nd visit to Founders this year and both times they had Trigo IPL on draft. It may be one of my favorite taproom only beers I've had there. I really hope they end up distributing it at some point. I'm surprised that style hasn't taken off yet.

    This morning's Cadre post says:

    - Solid Gold is one of the beers to be sold in 6-packs of cans, along with All Day, Rubaeus, and seasonals. I assume this means SG is one of the year-rounds, which would make it the blue row below All Day.

    - No Curmudgeon, Breakfast Stout, or reDANKulous in 2018. Likely to return at some point.

    - The Mothership Series will be sold as 6-packs of bottles at their taprooms.

    - The Barrel-Aged Series is Backwoods, KBS, and "four new releases." That makes it sound like they're not repeating any beers, although the color for BA #3 looks a whole lot like the background for the Project PAM label. Other labels don't match up as well. (BA #5 looks like the same color as Sumatra Mountain Brown on the calendar IMO.)
