Paying for Beer

Since places that accept cards already factor the cc fees into their pricing, I pay with my card, pay the statement in full at the end of the month and collect points. If servers/bar tenders are involved in the transaction I tip them in cash (I always carry it). One of my local breweries went as far as only accepting plastic in their tap room.

I pay in cash almost exclusively. Old school ways don't die. I would never tip on a card because I believe they either won't get it or get taxed on it. Being a cash payer has saved me a few times also when the internet connection or swipe machine was out, hearing "we can only accept cash right now" makes me smile when I see people turning around and walking out.

I also find it comical when a grown man don't have a single dollar in his pocket to buy something. I collect $5 a month at work from people for a lotto pool, it takes some guys the whole week to wrangle a 5 spot from the wife...sad and funny at the same time. Show me the money !!

 

Something I've also done (often) is tip the server in advance. This establishes I'm not a chintzy old bastard even though I look like one.

 

guess i must be ancient history. i have no credit or ATM cards. so the same goes for me.

 

What's in your wallet? Cash is usually not in my wallet and I pay for everything with debit or credit.

 

This, no reason to pay with cash when I'm getting rewards for using the bank's money. If my local breweries/shops offered a discount for using cash (as some gas stations do) then I may consider cash.

Everyone should pay taxes on their income, those who cheat the system are only making it worse for those who don't cheat.

 

I do exactly this. Quite literally, I am earning free money. Can't do that with cash.
