HA, we had a 4 hour drive each way as well. Planned on leaving at 7 and hitting Narrow Gauge at open then to the brewery. Changed plans with all the CSV rumors floating around we left about 6:30 and went straight there and ended up about 100 back. Was thinking of Pappys but the bottle list on site and the Taco Truck was calling our names. From another Cubs fan I also enjoyed the STL hospitality. Cheers

Since all the FIB's are commenting, I might as well too...

Went straight to Pappy's when I got to town. That place is legit. Crowded, but they move them through.

The brewery was a madhouse when I first got there. Missed BACSV but the crowd was still there. Took a while to get in and get some beer.

D8 was really good. Thick and rich with a lot of coffee. The coconut came later, especially as it warmed. It got a little sweet at the end, but part of that was probably palate fatigue after Prop and NW at GI Fulton the day before. I had to pass on BBT on site because of that. I was in a coma between the BBQ and beer later. Got a nice box to go that I will be enjoying for a while.

I stuck around Sunday for BACSV then had to go. Side Project is one of the best places to drink that I have been to. The only issue is there are too many good beers, I wanted like 4 more.

    $40 & $35

SP just tweeted about Bluet b2. Now all we need is another batch of PDF & KdF and we’re golden.

    1) KdF was great!
    2) I think he also tweeted about AdF recently too and also a Plum on a while back (I don't think the dude ever sleeps)
    3) I'm golden with coconut vibes (this weekend) & more coffee shop vibes (later this year)

    Sad story...

I got in line real early Sunday. I was 3rd in line at 8am. The couple that showed up after me were real nice. He is a pilot and said he couldn't drink that day because he was on call. So after nearly 4 hours of waiting, literally 15 minutes before the doors opened, he got that call. Most of us would say fuck it, what's another 15 minutes gonna hurt anyone. He didn't. He handled it in the most professional manner I think I've ever seen. He briefly told his story to an employee and was told someone would come out and talk to him (but they never did). He left his wife there and took off. Once the doors did open, she started to ask if she could buy a bottle for him but that didn't go far.

This is nothing negative about Side Project. They did what they had to do. Letting one person at the front of the line walk away with 2 bottles might have caused others to ask, so on and so forth. She didn't cry about it. Between them they have 1 bottle but it was both sad and inspiring at the same time. You know how much that 2nd bottle would mean to them and after being 4th/5th in line they probably deserve it. But his demeanor after receiving the call was totally unexpected. He's like... I got a job to do. This is just beer. I can only wish I'd be that strong in the same moment!

I don't assume that most of us would "say fuck it", most people I've met at releases are decent people.

Opened a BA Coffee Shop Vibes last night for my birthday. Wow it blew me away, thick oily coffee bomb. Definitely a dessert beer, one snifter was enough. Not really any alcohol burn, tons of coffee flavors with just a hint of bitterness. Would hold it's own with BA Sump for sure.

That's what I was thinking. When duty calls, you've gotta go.

I think I preferred BBT over D8 as well. Shhhh.....don't tell anyone.

This is not directed at you - I appreciate your contributions - but this is a kind of bizzare way to define fair. It's fair only in the sense that BBT people (or maybe insiders?) would be able to get 2 BA stouts instead of 1, whereas anyone that could not make it on a holiday weekend was SOL. I'm more inclined to believe "fair" would have been releasing it on it's own a seperate and announced weekend. Fair, of course, varies with who you are talking to as it is a normative statement.

By that logic every surprise/last minute release isn’t fair.

Life is good when not getting a $30 or whatever bottle of beer is considered unfair.

I think it was fair in that yes it was a surprise release the first day but he did it again every day after that so still silent release but even if you planned to pick up Friday you could still line up Saturday and grab one before leaving town.

Will BA coffee shop vibes have an announced release in the future or were all the bottles sold last weekend?

Does anyone have any idea exactly what the SP- TWCP 35th is? The information I could find does not seem to provide any information into even what type of beer this is, other than that it used Sherry casks?

    Missouri Wild Ale.
We supplied local distillery,Still 630, with a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Barrel and they aged their Rally Point Rye in the barrel. After the whiskey was bottled, the barrel went to Side Project and they filled it with beer!
