I'll probably try it, as I try most beers DFH puts out, but it doesn't sound like something I'll be very into.

This is the first thing I thought of when I read "Yum Yum" in the name of the beer... from the film "Gran Torino":

Walt Kowalski: You're wrong, eggroll, I know exactly what I'm talking about. I may not be the most pleasant person to be around, but I got the best woman who was ever on this planet to marry me. I worked at it, it was the best thing ever happened to me. Hands down. But you, you know, you're letting Click-Clack, Ding-Dong and Charlie Chan just walk out with Miss What's-her-face. She likes you, you know? Though I don't know why!

    Thao Vang Lor: Who?

Walt Kowalski: Yum Yum. You know, the girl in the purple sweater. She's been looking at you all day, stupid!

Thao Vang Lor: You mean Youa?

Walt Kowalski: Yeah... Yum Yum... yeah... nice girl... nice girl, very charming girl... I talked with her... yeah. But you, you just let her walk out right out with the Three Stooges. And you know why? 'Cause you're a big fat *****. Well, I gotta go. Good day, pussycake.

On a more serious note, I'm looking forward to it.

Dragons & YumYums is billed as a “lip smacking” tart pale ale brewed with dragonfruit, yumberry, passionfruit, pear juice and black carrot. This is no simple fruit ale.

    :sob:

I am sort of thinking they are taking beer to far. What style is this going to be? Sour? Seems like a gimmick the more I think about it.

The carrots and pear juice are just plain silly, but the 3 other fruits would prove interesting in a sour beer. Sounds very much like an imperial Florida Weisse. Nothing new or "innovative" there.

LOL I will snag a bottle because I am curious but the mix of flavors seem weird. I agree with you, the carrots and pear juice seem out of place. I guess maybe they are just going for a fun beer to do with the band and thats cool.

These band "collaborations" have been little more than novelty. Don't get me wrong, I like DFH, but the days of just throwing a bunch of ingredients together and making a bunch of "off centered ales" just because you can is over. The 2017 craft beer consumer is smarter than that.

Sort of my thoughts... I want something I can drink and enjoy not a one and done or drain pour 1/2 way. Things are so pricey these days I want to buy solid items. I love DFH and always drink their stuff but consumers are sort of wanting more than silly stuff.

I am done with new DFH offerings. The last 3 I tried were quite disappointing (Beer for breakfast/Lupu-Luau/Siracusa Nera).

I almost snagged Siracusa Nera, so it was bad? Sounded interesting but maybe I will read up more lol.

Would certainly like to hear your thoughts about those three, as I did not have them either.

BA only has 2 reviews for Siracusa, dang that is amazing since it has been out for a little bit. Guess the public is not buying.

Caveat: BA reviewers are not representative of "the public." We need some sort of access to sales figures. If "the public" is not buying we'll probably know when the beer disappears as several have in the past (both from DFH and other breweries).

I wouldn't say it was bad, I was just expecting much more from such brewery. it's an odd mix of Imperial Stout and wine, with a very dry finish. I just don't think it's worth the $15 I payed for the 4-pk

Strange... I found all these beers extremely interesting.
    1. Beer for Breakfast: just a big greasy cardomum-spicey stout
    2. Lupu Luau... coco IPA. Not over the top suntan lotion flavor either.
    3. Siracusa Nera... I'm still sitting on three of these, probably my least fav of the 3, but still good.

I probably was being over reaching with "the public", I guess I meant more the BA crowd was not buying it. I do agree that if sales are minimal it will be gone soon and also at my one store the pile seems to be sitting so it does not look to be going too fast.

"black carrot" That is interesting, I'd definitely try it if I see it.

I put in a duplicate entry. The original entry is under "Oak Aged Siracusa Nera," which might or might not have been it's original name. It looks like either a mild re-branding or an over-zealous initial entry (the current incarnation is still aged in oak)

Pear seems to me to be just fine. I have had a few root vegetable beers, one from Fonta Flora (beets) that was very good. I love carrots, grow them and eat them nearly daily. If carrot was done subtly in a beer, that would also work for me. Still, it could never be my favorite beer, but would be fun with a group of family and friends.
