I’ve been wondering lately what I’d have to add to a FVM to land a BADL. But with how hot it is right now to dog on FVM I did not think it would get you a different variant with a generous +. Nice!

 

Maybe he didn't get lucky, and you got unlucky? The reviews are all over the board on that one, and still seem to be more positive than negative last I checked.

Another BA shared a bottle with some of us a couple months back, and wretched was not used to describe it at all. But, spectacular wasn't used to describe it either. Also, we drank it alongside '17 Handjee, '16 BBA DL, and BA Abraxas...so that probably hurt it relative to the others (I'd say it also hurt the BA Abraxas, as that did not stand out at all compared to Handjee & BBA DL).

 

It's a weird flavor. The sweetness and redness of the barrel really come through and produce a delicious beer with all of the right sweet wine overtones. Combined with the salty and choclately things in DL it almost has a peanut-y thing going on in it. I loved it.

 

Jesus...the FVM 17 discussion continues. Let's just settle on the fact that some really dislike it and others have enjoyed it. I for one am in the former group. Muscat barrels suck.

This really should apply to every beer on this forum....CBS thread people are doing the same thing....Same with BCBS and variants...

 

No no, we're trying to keep this discussion going for as long as possible in order to beat the 215 or 217 (or however many pages) that last year's DLD thread reached. I'm counting on this discussion contributing at least another 30 pages.

At this rate, you guys are going to make me acquire a bottle so I can participate in the discussion...

 

We were at post #245 as of 12/12/16, and we're at post #351 (oops, now #352) as of 12/12/17. It's a great effort, but our work is never done with the DLD thread. We probably will need a fake band name or two in order to really keep up the pace this year since Dragon Abortion (and the resulting t-shirts ) had quite an impact on the thread.

Anyone know where I can park my car at DLD?

 

Croush, I think you can park at FFF and just crash in your car at the end of the fest. Not only will you save on a hotel and uber but you can also stash your bottles and won't drop them or have them taken (as long as they are in the trunk and it's not a simple smash and grab). Just be sure to hide your keys outside the car so it's not a felony...

hmmm - On an unrelated note does anyone know how long my pry bar has to be in order to gain the leverage it takes to pop a locked trunk?

 

Most people just wrap them around a light pole....

 

Just get the full sized FFF branded crowbar/bottle opener they will be selling at the fest.

 

We really should get this year's band going... We've got enough time to really make the merch shine.
