Now just a matter of waiting til 2019 to enjoy all 12 days.

Weird. I opened one last night with some friends and got a really nice port nose and a really pleasant sweetness on the flavor. Only complaint was that it felt a little thin, like not carbonated enough? But overall really liked it.

Good to hear that this might be isolated and not a representation of what they all are like. There was no sweetness or enjoyable port character to my bottle. Not carbonated enough was certainly not my case either as half my glass was filled with froth when I carefully poured it.

I've sampled a few vintages bottles a few times and other than oxidation they're fine.

On MBC or other sites you would pay double easily. And you're buying blindly too.

This is well known. The gooseberries went sour. Probably could have anticipated that at bottling really.

2020 if you're doing the BA set too. It will be a fun experience either way and I get to charge for the people who want to get in on it. I've already got takers offering $50 to be invited.

Many of us are not fueled by the exclusivity hype that comes from MBC and trading forums.

True, but until yesterday, MBC and trading forums were the only way to get Partridge in a Pear Tree (unless you bought it when it first came out).

I'd definitely like to try the 100% BA versions of Papier, in all it's oxidized glory, and will more than likely eventually drop a pretty penny for it.

That would be a nice invite!

I'd say a good amount are fueled by exclusivity, on BA !

A friend opened all three variants in October and they were holding up better than we expected. Some oxidation was evident but it was sherry-like, no cardboard unpleasantness to be found. If you do want to pull the trigger, I'd do it sooner or later - they won't be getting any better and there are relatively few bottles of them in play at this point.

The 100% BA versions of Coton and Cuir are also holding up very nicely IMO. slight bit of oxidation, but lots of barrel character and just a really decadent beer. 2 of my favorites that The Bruery has ever produced.

Bruery, last week: We know how expensive the holidays can be, so we're going to make it easier for you with payment plans! We don't make you decide between beer and giving gifts to loved ones!

Bruery, this week: Come on, spend all your money on this awesome vertical. Your family don't like you anyways; not giving gifts isn't going to change that.

For me it's not hype. I truly love the Bruery and want to try everything they do at some point. I also really like the idea of opening the entire set with a few friends and sharing that experience. I don't expect to love them all, the older stuff may be done for, but it will be a pleasant experience and memory to enjoy either way. Trading or second hand buying is the only real way to accomplish that. I know the Bruery has released sets in the past, but it's rare. I also already had (or have) most of the set so buying it in full wouldn't make sense now. If this was a different scenario I would unload my duplicates and buy the set online that I know has at least been taken care of.

As a long time Society member I have or had every single one of the Christmas set but if they put up an all bal-aged Christmas set I'd probably bite. For me, every bal-aged Christmas beer blew away the regular version. I hope they don't because Christmas would be cancelled for everyone around me:stuck_out_tongue:

Has anyone actually tried BBA 6 Geese? I know it's Terreux's contribution to the 12 days of Christmas set (sorry, couldn't resist). :stuck_out_tongue:

On the positive side for Christmas for my family the set doesn't have the earlier and likely more expensive Christmas beers. Reduced Christmas for my family and friends but they can get something......

I bought all the days I didn't have last year except for Partridge in a Pear tree. If I hadn't done that, I would have bought the set.

I feel like the one instance this isn't true ***at least for me!*** is 8 Maids.

I really liked 8 Maids but the BBA version was a little too heavy on the bourbon that the original characteristics were muted.

Did I miss the BA 9 Ladies Dancing in the allocations? I feel like it was released but cannot remember seeing it.
