how crazy is the line on Saturdays when OH first opens?

There is always a line at open, how long and crazy that line is depends on whats being released.

 

depends on your definition of crazy... is riding the rush of successfully trading last weeks' haul for some fresh west coast hops, crazy? is vaping some insane strawberry kush tangerine flavored liquid from a pen, crazy? Is having stood in line for 6 hours while keeping warm by having a bottle share with your #whalebros and #hazebois crew, crazy?

if any of those are part of your definition, then it gets WILD.

Just left the taproom, there’s still bottles of Orbt and Candy as well for those wondering.

 

my advice is to stay away from the lactose beers then. The line is kinda long at open because its been queued up for a good couple hours. You probably will get full allotment at that point but might wait 20-45 mins to get cans depending on the release.

Alternatively, you could take a chance and show up at 11:30-12 with no line but without the guarantee of full allotment.

 

Considering there is a LIC Pile of Crowns release as well as Finback BQE (granted that one is at noon), I am guessing there will be not much of a line at all (all things [re]considered). DDH ACE is great, but the others are unknowns for the most part (and not collabs). They will likely open early too because it will be cold, so go at 10:30 or 11 and I'll bet $2 there is plenty of everything with little if any wait.

Mike- generally there are the die-hards and linesitters that queue up for any release. OH has increased production and frequency of their releases. This has lessened the crowds; but popular releases, featured collaborations, weather, and competing brewery releases have a large impact on each specific release. For a monkfish collab, there were 300+ queued at 6am. i showed up at 3PM and had a 30min wait and got the collab, but missed out on AGE. Other releases have sold-out in-front of me. This should be a popular release, but not crazy. The answer is you- how much do you want to get a certain beer. I have a strong bent on ACE, but i am also a new father. I am willing to risk not getting any and show up at ~2ish, so i dont get killed by my wife (who is finding a lot of fault in my behavior lately).

The accepted rule of thumb here is show up at 8:30am if you want to make sure that you don't get shut out of anything.

 

Overall yes, since they are selling more in the taproom- but the cans has been the same for a while. If you NEED to have beer from the cans you should plan to get there by 8:00 to 8:30am
