This had to have been a stock/prior photo. They have Black Friday promos and not a single bottle missing. This is misleading at best.

Try a bottle of Pappy, but the hops really fall off early in the game

Late to thread here and haven't been in a Binny's since before Thanksgiving but I was planning on stopping by on Black Friday after a Costco run to grab some BCBS.
I never got to Binny's as Costco had a a 8'x8' stack of cases of BCBS at $8.99 a bottle, limit 4
There were still Costco's with stock this past week around here so I'm assuming that production this year was huge for the regular.

I'll will say it didn't disappoint but this years seems to be a couple of SRM measure off from past years.
F that, I'm still laughing about any beer post that comes from anyone that isn't a certified Cicerone and even then I scoff at the volley's of this year vs last year vs the variant that was released the same year as the Magna Carta, I think the 1225 release was better.

Madison is out of bcbs and one of my coworkers was traveling on Black Friday. He has some friends in Chicago area that could grab him a bottle or two. Any update on where to look? Thanks!

Just regular? Lots of places, including Binnys, still have it out. Any specific area in/near Chicago?

Agreed! The Monstrosus is the closest beer yet to BCBS. Southern Tier nailed many of the flavors in BCBS. Although I did find it a tad sweeter and less complex than BCBS.

I tried both side by side and can taste the difference. It is subtle but the 14.7% has a more alcohol heat to it. Some like this heat and others like myself would rather have that heat more subdued. I have to admit that this years batch is simply fantastic and I have been drinking BCBS since 2012.

Don’t worry, it isn’t personal. But unless we’re talking about a blind taste test, an honest one, that I can see myself to know it isn’t rigged... I never believe anyone when they say “they can taste the difference” between samples this close, let alone the same beer with an alcohol difference of half a percent.

Let’s not forget that Boulevard was contracted to brew Parabola last year...and well...didn’t quite do it justice. They were given the exact blue print to make a world class beer and they ended up making it taste like...well a Boulevard beer. Clunky is probably the best descriptor.

Boulevard makes some good stuff...but sadly most of
it is not on the same level as Firestone Walker.

Back to the BCBS portion of this thread. Still lots of regular around here and it’s drinking really nicely this year.

Wow, I did not know that firestone contracted Boulevard to brew Parabola... I don't see any info regarding this on google...

There's a whole paragraph about it printed on the box Parabola came in, not sure how you could miss that.

We did a three year tasting of Parabola at my last bottle share, and between all of us we liked '17 the best, then '15, and then 16' way behind. 17 was like drinking a chocolate brownie.

Pretty simple, I did not have a bottle of Parabola. Cheers to you, guy.

Interesting. I tried a ‘16 next to a ‘17 and found the ‘17 had all the elements of the previous years, except wasn’t as nicely integrated. I may need to revisit and do a mini-vertical when the ‘18 comes around to see if this years’ Parabola resolved its awkward tendencies.

I’ve noticed that previous years of Parabola seem “smooth” and “aged” out of the gate. The Boulevard Parabola seemed different in that regard.

You sure about that, what's the data source? Both Bravo and Helldorado have lower BA scores than Merkin, though they're all really close.
