One of my craft beer pet peeves these days is the $18+ four pack. Seems like their main selling point is the cool art work on the can and the one-off exclusiveness. Alas, I still can’t resist sometimes. Having bought this one I can say it’s good but definitely not worth the dough. Fort George’s City of Dreams is better and way more affordable. Is the overpriced 4-pack sustainable and here to stay or do you think prices will be forced to come down as these beers become more accessible? I’m guessing Great Notion is banking on the former rather than the latter with their big expansion in NW.

Sadly, it's the way of the future. As long as we consumers are buying, the breweries have no reason to stop. Last weekend weekend, a small brewery in my town released some special brews, and a new version of their AOA. $22/4-16oz. I had a draft pour, then moved to their Saisons/Wild/Sour stuff. They were constantly running back to the cooler to grab moar cans. Welcome to our modern life. YMMV.

It’s been my experience that smart businesses take a look at new markets they’re entering and price accordingly, with little influence from how they’re priced in other markets. I’d expect them to be at the top end of Portland brewery pricing, but not beyond them. Great Notion is probably a good comparison.

Holy Mountain sold 4-packs of Astral Projection for $22 and they sold out in less than 2 1/2 hours.

Exactly. We all make our own choice whether to participate or not, but, what's wrong with letting somebody else have a shot? Insert typical "fuckin' Amazonians" response here. My lawn, and all dat.

$20 is the norm for just about any four pack of cans in SF. I actually don't find it horrible compared to 22s.

    22 ounces for $10
64 ounces of cans for $20
    32 ounce growler for $13
    64 ounce growler for $26

Price per oz wise, 22s are by far the biggest rip off for consumers. In my opinion.

Thread jack alert: I sure would like to see BBOMB & BBADS in 12 oz bottles.

    You and me both Larry.

Cracked open a bottle of regular KDS on Friday. Had a small after dinner glass that evening, and then a somewhat more substantial glass on Saturday. On Sunday, I just couldn't face any more BA stouts (after the Arch Bridge shindig on Saturday), so I still have nearly half a bottle in the fridge. The carbonation keeps fairly well when I recap/recork the bottle, but even so... a 12 ounce bottle format would keep this from even being an issue/problem.

True that John. I mentioned two beers but it really applies to anything only available in 22's or 750's. Is Deschutes listening? We don't like 22's.

Even The Bruery has started bottling in 375 mL bottles, and they've used nothing but 750s from the start.

Totally agree. 22’s and 750’s are my other pet peeve. Big stouts and other high abv beers should never be in anything bigger than 12oz.

Yes, $13 for 32 oz and $26 for 64 oz is terrible. And so is $1.5million for a 2,500 sq. foot home.

Thread jack alert again. I'm sad Crux moved Tough Love from 375s to 750s.

I'm just hopping on to this thread to give props to the OP's username. Great tribute to Yadier Molina, and a fun twist on his name. You'll find there are a few long time Cardinals fans on this forum.

Most of the talk I’ve seen is negative about FW moving their big beers to 12oz, but I dug it.

It’s rare, but I’ve also had some BA beers in 12oz cans and didn’t mind it one bit. I get that the waxed big bottles signal “I’m special”, but I’d prefer the smaller better container. Maybe something like white label albums; I don’t need the extra marketing, just gimme the beer.

As a graphic designer, I can't get behind this sentiment. At all.

    I SAID GOOD DAY, SIR.

Obligatory IPA, in an attempt to get back on topic: Yesterday I tried Lucky Lab's latest hazy IPA, Tim the Enchanter. I much preferred their Wag IPA, and went on to prove it by having too many of them.
