Hey fellow BA's. I'm going to be staying overnight right by LAX in the end of November on the journey home from spending 10 days in Fiji, I was hoping to pick all of your brains to see if there was any places (preferably close to LAX) that would be worth grabbing a few pints and some good food or picking up a few bottles I can't get ahold of out here in Maine. Sorry if this has already been posted, I started to delve into the "Places" tab, but being completely unfamiliar with LA I figured I would ask the masses. Cheers!

Will you be renting a car? What time will you be arriving in LA?

Probably won't be renting a car considering I wont even be there a full 24 hours. We will be arriving mid afternoon on a Sunday

THAT is what I am talking about. We're staying at the Courtyard LAX which is a drunken half-mile stumble away so I will definitely be stopping by here. Any decent bottle shops around the corner?

Wally's is in Westwood (near the UCLA campus). It's not around the corner but it's probably one of the best bets in the general area. You will for sure have to take a 15 to 20 minute taxi ride to get there (maybe longer).

Take a taxi to El Segundo and check out El Segundo Brewing Co and walk across the street to Rock and Brews. Then you can walk over to Richmonds around the corner to see whats on tap there. Hang out all day there and then catch a cab back over to your hotel. El Segundo Brewing Co is open Tues-Sun and only certain time during the day. Call ahead.

Will do, thanks for the input! Anything in particular I should keep my eyes out for? I've seen in multiple bottle shop reviews of secret Pliny stashes, but I am more interested in California/ West Coast brews. I would love to get my hands on some FW, Lost Abbey, Lagunitas, and other gems I can't get here in Maine. Just out of curiosity, anyone know what a cab ride like that costs in LA? Here we're talking $30+

    Probably at least the same.

I think you're set with Four Points Sheraton, El Segundo Brewing, and Rock & Brews in El Segundo. If you need bottles there's a shop on main street in El Segundo that has a pretty good selection (http://www.yelp.com/biz/hollymain-liquor-el-segundo#query:liquor), not sure how they do on limited releases but you'll definitely find some CA brews. There's also a HUGE Whole Foods, it would be another taxi ride but they have a solid beer selection and a tasting bar with about 8 taps.

I'd throw Naja's in the mix as Redondo isn't all too far from El Segundo/LAX.
