Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

Anyone try mars holihaze? Wondering if it’s on par with velvet and overhaze

 

I thought Crushed Velvet was good, not great... it lacked "brightness", for lack of a better word.

Great citrus/tropical fruit notes, but I wish they were a little more "forward" (again, not sure I'm using the right term).

Nitpicking for sure; it's the best NE IPA they've produced in my opinion.

 

Have you seen it around? I haven't seen it anywhere yet. Thanks!

 

I had a sample of it last night and thought it was amazing. Bought a 4 pack. Grape flavor was present but not overwhelming. On par with their recent releases.

 

Beer cellar got it in yesterday

Does noon whistle distribute to shops in Chicago? Trying to get my brother to get some but the brewery is far away for him.

 

The Beer Cellar had a keg of ChiPA with white wine on tap about 6 months back. I was skeptical to say the least, but I was blown away by how delicious it was. It was your typical NE IPA body, with citrus-y flavors, and a hint of the white grape on the end. It's not for everybody, but it tickled my fancy for sure.

If Holihaze is anywhere near that, since the concept is similar, I'll be buying a bunch.

Hmmmm, conflicted on whether to seek this out. I tried the Galaxy dry hopped Sue, which to be fair was already over a month old when it got here, but it didn't blow me away.

 

Yea dont buy any, its horrible .

Any pale over a month old and not stored cold has a much shorter shelf life. 10.99 for a NE style pale better than 99% of whats on the market is a no brainer to me.

 

That latest batch of sue is very fresh.

 

Corridor and Windmill are doing a Milkshake IPA collab.

 

Hollihaze is really good and totally worth grabbing a 4 pack of

 

at this moment my fridge is more beer than food and the ratio is about to get even worse.

 

Anyone try the new batch of Juice Pants?

 

How much white wine character? Prospect of that is making me hesitant

 

Had it in Trillium or Forbidden Root? You know what jumped out at me with this beer more than the white wine? It was the idea that Marz might be developing a “house flavor” as there was something that drew me back to Overhaze and Crushed Velvet

 

I also thought the ddh galaxy was meh, but these cans are insanely fresh, great, amazing, now i get the hype, etc
