Beer shop finds.

I've purchased it fresh a half a dozen times or so and never got any diacytel; but those August cans were stale as hell and quite gross.

 

I grabbed a bottle of that on Black Friday. Going to crack it open tonight. I visited the brewery in October and really enjoyed the beers they poured so i.figured I'd give it a try

 

I've sworn off Captain's Daughter for good. So many consistency issues and the beer just wasn't that incredible to run the risk of buying bad cans. Shame they couldn't get it right, the definitely squandered a lot of potential

Must be the canning, it is prevalent on draft around me and never had an issue in that format. But yes I rarely buy CD cans anymore unless it is the freshest option, had off batches in the 4-packs I've had previously.

 

Cans of Tin Man Csar and Bourbon Barrel Aged Csar started popping up. Grabbed one of each at CBC Fenway.

 

Not sure how long Heretic has been distro'd here but I gave their "Make Amercia Juicy Again" a try. 1-month old cans at CBC Framingham. I really liked it. Very citrus forward but not quite the juice mouthfeel it claims to be. However, I prefer that area inbetween west coast style and the juice style where you get citrus-forward character but it's still crisp and snappy. So, 2 thumbs up from me.

 

I couldn't finish it on draft at Jack's- tasted liked soured fruit loops in a bowl of air freshener. I know you didn't ask for my opinion, but that beer needs to die. The kellerbiers were fantastic though.

Oxbow game is strong right now at Fort Point Market. Bottles of 2017 Liquid Swords, Synthesis, Double Daisy Farmer, and Cletus.

Cletus, although not in the OG flip top is fuckin' rockin. Like a sweet tart that was trampled by a goat. So good.

While on the subject, CBC Fenway still has bottles of Oxbow Catalyst which was one of my favorites of the past year. It's like HF Ann's less attractive friend that you can actually take home. Would have snatched it up but I bought a bunch of bottles from oxbow at $16 a bottle so it's tough to swallow the $24 price tag. Bummer.

 

If anybody's looking for Northwoods still there were a couple bottles left at liquor locker in Gloucester. Weird beer

 

You get a price on those? I paid $25 at one point. It was OK, but I would not pay $25 for a 16 oz. bottle again... I feel like's that not far off from cost though, so who knows...

Haul for the holidays recently from bacon's in hudson. Bit of a mixed bag:
Abandoned Building's Coffee Nightshade stout - miss for me. I like nightshade but was messy.
Kent Falls Subtext pilsner - very mediocre.
Mystic DDH Amperage belgian ipa: weird at first but as it warmed up a bit it was awesome. Really dug it.

 

Apparently they have Pretty Things Barbapap and OFR on sale at Crafted in Holliston!

That's pretty much how I felt. I swung by Jack's Abby specifically to pick up a four pack of Hop on Holiday after the first canning run, and still have a can in the basement....and I was very surprised they canned it again! and this is coming from someone who usually loves all of JA's offerings.
