I have gone thru IPA burnout, the market is saturated. Look at Summit.

Maybe you are right, if we could get more NEIPA, that would be great.

Summit’s layoffs are a direct result of their beer portfolio being oversaturdated with IPAs, obviously. How did we not realize this, guys?! Alllllllll those summit IPAs....

Not only all breweries need to brew an IPA, they now need to brew a NE IPA. What have we wrought?

I like the name. I'm assuming it is worker's beer auf Deutsch. Maybe another German lager house?

I don't mind the old Harriet location. Close to the bike trail.

Sure. Don't brew what people want. Worked well for Northgate.

Hmm. $3 in taproom credit for each $1 donated. Not a bad deal, but I'd be hesitant, at best, to contribute without knowing the location and having a chance to sample the beers. In the case of Insight, where I got $4 in trap room credit for each $1, I knew it was near me. They also did an open house with samples of, essentially, homebrew. It was a risk, but I'd say I've lucked out.

Ahh! Now I see it. Yeah, that's the Harriet Brewing site. Looks like they're adding an addition into the parking lot.

Juno is a great dude and Aaron bring great experience as a brewer to the team, I suspect these guys will do well. Psyched to have another taproom close to home!

On The Beer Show on 1500 ESPN, co-host Mike Frattallone often asks brewer guests something along the lines of, Given the overwhelming popularity of IPAs among craft beer consumers, why not just put ten IPAs on tap? Rarely does he get a good answer. Barrel Theory is the first brewery in the state to focus primarily on the IPA family of beers (20 of the 31 beers it has released so far have been IPAs, DIPAs, or APAs), and it has done so to tremendous acclaim, albeit not from me personally, and to apparent commercial success. I think, if anything, the Twin Cities metro area is behind other major markets in terms of IPA-centric breweries, and I strongly suspect the market is craving more.

Arbeiter has caved to the public's demands in this area before it even has opened: "Are we going to serve a boring old IPA? Absolutely, but we won’t be resting it on our laurels." On the one hand, from an artistic perspective, it would be nice if brewers who had no interest in brewing IPAs weren't forced to accommodate the IPA-only drinkers (who are little more sophisticated than the "What's the lightest beer you have?" types). On the other hand, it's good for us consumers that we have enough market power that we can sway brewers to accommodate our tastes. If brewers find a practical need to devote one tap line to an IPA and one tap line to an inoffensive, highly approachable beer, but otherwise they can specialize in their area of interest, that seems to me to be a rather harmless compromise. The enormous popularity of extremely accessible New England IPAs may even allow those two grudgingly sacrificed tap lines to converge into one.

Below is my list of Minnesotan BIPs that I think have the potential of opening in 2018. I'm sure I'm missing a few, and I'm sure some to many of these won't open in that time frame.
    • 651, St. Paul: May be just a client brewing endeavor; unclear
    • AEGIR, Elk River
    • Angry Hog, Austin
    • Arbeiter, Minneapolis
    • Blue Wolf, Brooklyn Park
    • Boathouse Brothers, Prior Lake
    • BoomTown, Hibbing
    • Brass Foundry, Minneapolis: I'm dubious about this one.
    • Clutch, St. Paul
    • Culhane, St. Paul: I'm dubious about this one.
    • Defender, Chaska
    • Dual Citizen, St. Paul
    • Elk River Stadtbräu, Elk River
    • Finnegans, Minneapolis: Currently an alternating proprietor at Badger Hill in Shakopee
    • Garphish, Bethel
    • Half Pint, Waseca
    • Invictus, Blaine
    • Lakes Brewing Company, Chisago City
    • Oakhold Farmhouse, Midway Township
    • Pantown, St. Cloud
    • Rapids, Grand Rapids
    • Rustech, Monticello
    • Spiral, Hastings
    • St. Croix, Stillwater: Currently a client brewer. Tod Fyten's recent purchase of NorthGate makes the status of this long-delayed brewery and taproom unclear.
    • Stacked Deck, St. Paul
    • Tilion, Cannon Falls
    • Torg, Spring Lake Park
    • Wooden Hill, Edina
    • Yoerg, St. Paul: Currently a client brewer at Octopi in Waunakee, Wisconsin. This will be an associated brewpub technically under different ownership.
Can anyone confirm that Turning Waters Back Alley Brewing Company (a.k.a., Hoppy Girl Brewing) in Wabasha opened in late 2017?

let's say each beer costs $6, you'd be getting 500 beers for your $1k investment. Pretty good deal if they're even in the average category.
