I still remember Vanilla Vlad being available for like four or five hours. I'm scared to see what that line will be next year

I don’t have Facebook but apparently this event is now today? No tickets either? My intel didn’t work out this time, sorry!

I got there around two thinking the initial rush would have been gone and we could grab a few. I was shocked when they told us all bottles were gone. Every other release I showed up at 3 or 4 and was able to grab what I wanted.

Anyway, had a few pours. The coconut was outstanding and well balanced. The coffee maple was typical Hailstorm where they beat the shit out of you with adjuncts. It was good but too much for more than a pour. In my opinion.

I wish I was able to grab a few bottles but oh well.

Now apparently this event was moved to Thursday 12/21? They used to do tapping events on Thursdays when not on Saturdays. Not sure what happened here

Yeah, I'll just have to remember for next year. I would have gone hard on those coconut bottles.

This feels appropriate to leave here. So since my wife and I are both in the field, 50% + 50% = 100% off, right? I double checked my work on this one and am feeling pretty confident about my math here.

The House Pub is not doing a BCBS yap takeover this year after having Proplast year. Getting the feeling that Prop draft pours are drying up here....

Similarly, Paddy Long’s isn’t getting Prop this year, despite not getting it in prior years. I know that’s city, and not suburbs, but the same thought applies.

I think they'd probably give you 50% off and then 50% off the rest, which would be 75%.

The One Trick Pony? JUST cracked one now...smooth & delicious. Mild vanilla, subtle barrel and nice milk chocolate flavors.

It doesn't hit you over the head but it's a real supple sipper....

Agreed on this year's Kentucky Mountain, it'd awesome. They keep posting teasers for Heavy Things on Facebook too, I wonder if it's releasing soon

I was driving back from my in-laws in Mokena today & saw a new place opened on Lagrange road just south of I80, Crafted https://www.crafted1979.com

looks to be a bottle shop & tap room ala Open Bottle & the current draft list looks solid. anyone been yet?

No but that’s a very regional tap list. I would’ve thought it was in NWI or over the Michigan border if I didn’t know better (I see the Illinois beers too of course)

Interesting choice to open a place 5 miles from Open Bottle.

Not an expert on commercial real estate, but if I were looking for a market that’s underserved (relative to population size) I would look at Aurora/Naperville.

I thought the same thing, I guess we'll see what they can do as a differentiator

yeah having 4 of your 12 taps pouring Perin is odd to me.. . i liked seeing a few sours & the UA/Hubbard's Cave options. given they are just opening may be part of that although you defiantly want options that will entice new customers to stop in. I'll definetly keep an eye on what they are tapping in the future

This is actually my cousin’s place. Him and a friend are co owners and this is a side venture from their daily jobs. Familiy bias’s aside, its a really nice place. it’s a bit on the smaller side but they use the space well.

I believe they just had a Perrin event/takeover on thursday possibly??

I have some friends in mokena that said they are happy they opened there. While open bottle isn’t a very far drive, they said that they didn’t have any real neighborhood options.
