    Getting ready for some football. First up will be the Outback Bowl. My first job was at the University of South Carolina, and the Gamecocks will always be in my heart. And who wouldn't be excited with Oklahoma/Georgia and Alabama/Clemson?

    Happy New Year to all! Starting off today right - with maybe (just maybe) my favorite Spiteful beer, Goddamn Pigeon Porter. This stuff is great - dark as night, great head retention, toasty-roasty hops, with bitter baker's chocolate, and some umami-soy impressions as it warms... fantastic shit. 8.2% - Impressed.

    Thorn Street Relay ipa 7.2% with Simcoe, Centennial, Amarillo, and Citra. Lighter in body and color. It says not overly malty or bitter but I can still taste some smooth malt compared to the GF wcipa. The hops are light and fruity like mango and pineapple with a little citrus zing. A little bit juicy to go with some dry lingering bitterness. Still fruity on the finish with a hint of lingering pine. Never gets too piney or grapefruity. Not too sweet or malty but good enough to mask the 7.2% abv.
