No clue from me. The base (Non-BA) was released last year at the Mikkeller takeover in Denmark. I'll be interested to see how this if different than Sleeping Forever other than a slightly different ABV.

I think one thing that makes Sleeping Forever different is it's blended with previous batches they've aged. So 2016 SF might be pretty similar to Pallbearer since it was the first and they didn't have any prior years yet, but 2017 on would have that one pretty big difference.

They also had the base at the first Veil tap takeover at Esoteric in November 2016. I did not get a chance to try it though.

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed ad nauseam, but driving from NYC to FL and wanted to stop at the Veil to fill some growlers ... just realized they don't fill growlers (wtf).

Anyway, do cans ever make it to Wednesday? I'll be there the afternoon of the 26th.

Yes they do! And most of the time you can get almost all of them next day

They'll be releasing 3 cans on 12/26. Expect a larger than usual crowd regardless of the release. No telling what will be left on Wednesday - holiday weeks are outliers.

Glad to hear they want to make WDM more available. I think that’s one of their best. Now if I can just get them to make Lord Lord Shredder Shredder more available.

Question for the regulars: know it probably depends on the specific beers, but what are release days usually like? Can you just go in and buy beer after 4pm (ie Trillium) or is there usually a long line for a couple hours (ie Other Half)?

Will be in the area around 4:30-5 tomorrow.

Really excited either way, but will be with my fam so trying to plan.

    Thanks in advance.

Tomorrow will probably be relatively lax because of the lack of hype. There is usually a line a few hours before but you usually hve a solid chance of getting all can released that day if you’re in line by opening or under an hour before opening. I’m expecting tomorrow to be very low key at Veil. The Answer may be packed though

If this were a normal week and not a day that lots of people have off and are visiting from out of town: there will be a line of 50-60 people at open, but there is absolutely no need to wait in that line. Instead, wait til about 6:30 when the line winds down and walk up and buy whatever you want with no wait.

This being a "holiday week" though, who knows. Triple Crossing normally has super easy, line-free releases but there was a huge line ther last Friday and they sold out of Interstellar by like 7pm, very unusual for them. I would still not predict a big long wait or early sellout for The Veil today, but the holiday is a wildcard so its hard to say for sure.

anybody got a sense of crowds for the release yesterday, and if it's worth a stop on thursday right at opening to grab cans?

They just posted on IG and seems everything is still available. Not sure how much though.

I didn't go, but from driving by and looking at facebook, it seems like it was a pretty normal-sized crowd for a Tuesday release. There will probably be some cans available at open tomorrow, and the MMSS is likely to stick around the longest of the 3. They will post on IG tomorrow around lunch or early afternoon what they'll have available at open.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Circle of Wolves (DEBUT) - Circle of Wolves is our beloved English barleywine that we created with intentions of spending extended periods of time in barrels. Clocking in at 12.8%, this batch spent 20 months in a mix of Heaven Hill and Four Roses Bourbon barrels. It then spent another 1.5 months in the bottle. Full bodied with beautiful notes of raisins, dark fruits, honey, Bourbon, and maple syrup. We genuinely believe that bourbon barrel aged Circle of Wolves is one of the most elegant beers we’ve released and we are beyond pleased to share this one with you. The second vintage of this beer will not be released for over 12-18 months, so grab this one while you can. There will be limited draft available of this on Tuesday also.
Approx 1000x 500ml bottles will be available. $18+tax each. 2x bottles per person limit

    Henry Ded Mon (DEBUT)
is our collab with our good buddy Mikkel Borg Bjergsø from Mikkeller HQ. Keith Shore knocked this one out of the park with the label art too! Clocking in at 11%, Henry Ded Mon is a Quintuple dry-hopped Triple IPA. We completely bombed this one out with hops at almost 15lbs/bbl. We used excessive/disrespectful amounts of Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, Amarillo, Vic Secret, Motueka, and Kohatu. It’s seriously smells and tastes like tropical fruit juice with virtually zero alcohol presence. Due to the insane amount of hops put into this beer, the yield was pretty crappy.
We are shooting for approx 150-170x cases. $23+tax/4-pack. 2x 4-packs per person

PRBLMS is a 11% Triple IPA hopped irresponsibly with 50% Mosaic hops, 25% Citra, and 25% Enigma hops. Full bodied, citrusy, and dangerously easy to drink. If you dig We Ded Mon or Uncle Cousin, you will love PRBLMS.
    Shooting for 170-190x cases. $17.50+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person

    *LIMITS SUBJECT TO CHANGE*

**WE WILL NOT HAVE CANS THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY(1/9/18), SO STOCK UP THIS WEEK FOR THE SHORT CAN DROUGHT!**

15 lbs of hops/bbl seems crazy to me.

11% abv with almost no alcohol presence seems a little scary to me.

I recently opened a whitebugatti with about a week on it and could not pick up the slightest hints of alcohol. For the most part just about every DIPA I have from Veil tastes similar regardless of hops used and nothing has blown me away lately but that TIPA was one of the best beers I've had from them. I'm a fan of the hops used and was a big fan of whiteferrari too so I figured it would be to my licking unless the abv really showed. Whatever they did to the hop / malt / yeast profile in those I say stay they course. Triple Crossing IPAs are my favorite in RVA and I did think to myself at first sip that bugatti tasted very much like theirs but it took it about to a week to ripen up to be where TBCs come out tasting great on release day (at least for my taste).

Anyone in town for the release today, The Answer is also releasing their collab with The Veil TODAY. Available at The Answer only. Doors open at 4pm. No mention of limits on Crowlers but their IPAs are typically no limit so I would assume the same with this. Cost is $13.50/Crowler
