    1) Spend less money on beer. This probably won't happen, but I'm going to try to limit my purchases to more valuable things, rather than any old beer under the sun I see.

    2) Visit more breweries.

    3) Buy local. I know everyone repeats this one like a mantra, and while I do have some criticisms of the phrase, (like the fact that quality should trump locale any time) I have discovered enough local breweries at this point that I love that I want to monetarily support them as much as possible. Local business are what keeps our economy alive and helps fight big business. Local businesses are your friends and neighbors, trying to earn a living, and they help your local community. War Horse, Ithaca, Upstate, Galaxy, Horseheads, Roosterfish, etc., are all great breweries and I intend to support them more this year.

I concur. In 2017 I "adopted" a new local brewery, Remedy Brewing, from the standpoint of adding it to BA as a location, uploading a picture, adding all of their beers, reviewing all of their beers, and nominating them for best new brewery of 2017. Really a great brewery and they've quickly become prominent in the blossoming South Dakota brewery market. I still buy my share of bottled/canned.

The one resolution that I made several years ago, the only one I've never broke: Never buy 4-packs

And, no offense, but South Dakota needs as much help as it can get to support its brewing scene.
Central US is a wasteland compared to the Northeast and the West Coast.

Yup, far smaller market, but the number of breweries is proportional to population. The Sioux Falls "metroplex" is something like 250,000 population, and we have a growing beer district. Currently have three brewery/taprooms and four non-brewery taprooms within a few blocks crawling distance. Also have three other breweries in town, two more coming soon, and several other taprooms. No shortage of good craft here.

Awesome. I'm glad we're finally reaching a point where good beer is accessible almost anywhere in the country.

I don't know much about South Dakota, but there's a lot of great beer in the central US. I'm in Des Moines and we have quite a few breweries putting out great beer. The thing is our a lot of the great beers being made at least around me don't get much if any distribution. youd be shocked at the amount of incredible beer being made in the Midwest.

Stop spending $4/can on beers unless they come from VT.

Mix some AALs in with craft. Spend wisely and reset the palate.

Buy growlers of big local DIPAs and stretch them out.

    Pilsners.More Pilsners.

I know Iowa has been growing a lot. Last I checked there were barely any breweries in Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas, though.

For 2018, I'm going to drink less and not to lose weight since I'm already sub-150, but to save me a few hundred dollars this year. For 2017 I drank 483 new-to-me beers, of which 23 were tasters (according to my Untappd). Overall for the past year I was probably around 650-700 beers total, and of the overall total there were 5-6 24packs of High Life that I drank at the lake over the course of the summer, along with who knows how many F5s.

Kansas doesn't have a ton that I've had, but tall grass is a very nice regional brewery and central standard is also very good. The Dakotas and Nebraska don't have a ton, but I know a lot of people who have been impressed with Omaha, they have a decent number of breweries. I'm sure the rest of the state is reasonably limited in selection.

This post gave me pause for reflection and math. I averaged around 1400 beers this year. That's not bragging. In my youth I would say at times I was close to double that amount. Slow learner.

1400? Attending a few meetings might be a good resolution

I was also going to include Oklahoma, but at least OK has Prairie, which is a god-tier brewery imo.

I don't have any beer "drinking" resolutions specifically, but I am planning to buy a SABCO brew magic when I get home from Afghanistan in April and REALLY step up my home brewing game.

Haven’t read any of the responses, but the annual responses are usually pick three of the following:

    Drink less

    Spend less

    Trade less

    Drink down cellar

Enjoy more local/locally accessible options and stop worrying about the limited / hard to get stuff

    Finally start homebrewing

    Visit favorite brewery X

Personally speaking none for me. Having an 18 month old means behavior is in check by default
