Green Cheek and Offshoot still offer amazing west coast IPA's on rotation in their taprooms.

Monkish on the other hand is far more concerned about what mad lyrics to use to name their beer.

How about Smog? Any juicy haze from these guys? I admit I haven’t been to or stop by Smog at all in 2017.

I can tell you that I am no hipster sir @MissFeisty. Maybe an old hippie. And I do like my independence. I do try and stick with independent as much as possible. With beer I have many choices these days. I miss Sculpin. But there are so many better IPAs to choose from.

    and Old Guardian.

My 2017 disappointment was Stone's increased pace of jettisoning their classic beer lineup with increased frequency .

A part of me wants to say it's because they're in the middle of expanding their production facility. Who knows. But the beers they do have are still solid regardless? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the Dojo not opening was a disappointment. not the biggest by any means. and not a big deal because it will open soon. but, disappointing

Bruery selling majority share was surprising, and disappointing for me

also (not to dump on Bruery) Mash and Coconut bottled was disappointing and made me sad

    also Trump becoming our president

    and David Bowie dying

    For Me:

Pretty much everything out of El Segundo, with the exception of their collab with Green Check, has been disappointing. As much as I want them to get better, they seem to be serving up the same old stuff they were serving 5 years ago. I want to see them improve their barrel program. Their yearly BA beers could use a lot of work, but they can't improve if they don't work on it but once a year.

Like others have mentioned, Smog City is pretty disappointing across the board. Still love their Infinite Wishes series, but everything else is uninspiring. Not into sours or wild ales, so I won't criticize them there.

I had a lot hope for Unsung, but so far I haven't been impressed.

Bottle Logic's daily tap list. It's getting a lot better from the days when friends and I would walk in, see what was on tap, and walk out. They still have a ways to go, but it still seems like the best time to go is when they have Stasis brew on tap.

Noble, see Bottle Logic comments above. Replace "Stasis" with "Special Release".

    Alesmith membership.

Went from in person only, to ok if local trustee, to shipping in state to shipping to front door out of state.

    Still not worth it.

Bowie died in 2016 but it does feel like he dies again every year.

Biggest disappointment was hearing Wynn Whisenhunt is leaving Bartlett Hall. I knew the day would come, but was hoping it wouldn't be so soon.

I'd say my biggest disappointment relative to expectations was Trillium. Not really their fault, as the beer was good and Vicinity was great. I just had crazy high hopes and I think local breweries have caught/surpassed them more than I expected.

But since that's not in CA I'll go with Mikkeller. I used to search out their special release hops each week, but the last couple/few months they've had a huge "miss" rate to the point I've just focused my beer budget elsewhere.

I don't know where he's going, but I do know his assistant brewer is taking over so maybe there won't be a huge drop off in quality. I'll stop by there soon and let you know.

A big disappointment for me: no food at Beachwood HB . I get it because of zoning and all that, but what's stopping them from pulling a Four Sons and having a food truck!?
