Fox Farm Brewery, CT (2018)

It shouldn't be shocking, they're a great brewery.

 

Zyto is one of the most sublime beers I've had in a while. I bought a few bottles at the brewery last week and had anticipated opening one later that day. Then I tried a sample and realized that they need to be shared. Also, I have a feeling they'll age quite gracefully.

 

Fox Farm is on fire right now. I'll echo everyone's thoughts on Zyto - excellent brew. The coffee stout released last weekend was delicious and a perfect beer for the cold snowy weather we had. Today they are releasing bottle conditioned versions of the first batch of Freckled Fields, as well as the return of Alta which is my favorite IPA they've made to date.

FF is easily at the top of my list for new breweries this year.

 

Are Witch Meadow bottles still available or all gone? Are they planning another release?

 

Blew ceno stout out of the water. And I enjoyed ceno stout. Would love to see more witch meadow. That stuff flew under the radar. I didn't even try the ba version that was bottled.

 

I've only had the BA Witch Meadow and it was outstanding. Maybe nicer barrels could only make it better.

 

What barrels did they use? FF appears to be a brewery that would only use world class, once used barrels.

 

I don't know, but I feel like I've had enough barrel aged beers to know I've had nicer bourbon flavors. I'm not knocking what they did use, but only saying that's the only criticism I could find.

 

Anyone have any insight into the next bottle release?

I picked up some Freckled Fields and Zyto today while getting a couple half pours. I forgot how much I enjoy it there with the great beer, relaxing atmosphere and friendly employees.

 

Yeah I saw they have those - was just curious if they were releasing anything new anytime soon.

 

finally made it there this past weekend...grabbed a few bottles of fields & zyto...an absolute terrible place to spend a sober january. the crew i was w/ popped freckled fields once we got back home...bottle turned out to be a gusher but was enjoyable (funk w/ minimal tart)...read reviews on untappd having the same issue. all in all i'm extremely looking forward to going back.

Let’s bump this Fox Farm thread rather than the TH comparison.

I haven’t made it down yet for the latest Roam: Nelson but that was my favorite from last year. Anyone comment on this batch?

Do we know if they will ever deviate from growlers only (other than the Saisons)?

 

with all the haze boyz more than likely hitting th today w/ the expectation of something special b4 anniversary party, i'm thinking today's avalonia release should be tame. thoughts?

 

Fridays have been generally easy in easy out for me. I tend to get there around 4:30 and 5 and haven't had an issue the last few visits.

While I am excited for it, I'm not sure the bottle release is going to have any affect on FF visitors today. Maybe I am being too optimistic.

 

Wait until you try their "true" sours. Of course, they will be bottles only. Have your chainsaw ready to cut through the wax. Makes Bo and Luke look like child's play.
