That's what I meant, in a way. Yes.

If there’s inconsistencies due to the varying availability of hops or quality in hops, that’s still really a brewer issue. Not a lot of breweries pay attention to lot numbers, but it is not hard to find suppliers that will sell you one lot year round, even without contracts in a lot of cases. When you do a spot purchase, you just have to tell them “I got lot ––– last time, I’d like the same this time.”

I can agree with this. I've had several from Trillium that, I think, tasted better with a few weeks of age on them. Another example I've had recently was Sneak Box from Kane....it was canned ~10/30 and it was drinking just as good if not better than it did 1.5 months prior (IMO of course)!

Dude says he had a beer that's 'too' fresh. Here we go with the downward spiral. Never thought someone would switch and say an NEIPA is too fresh. Had a SN Hazy Little Thing last night that was canned on 12/7/17 and it was fantastic.

I use whole leaf and I've never had it in my beers. Obviously that's not definitive, but I'm OK with that.

Well Stone still does the Enjoy After series. So that's an example of a dating solution for this "freshness problem."

2028: I don't drink IPAs anymore, just drool over IPA recipes I read on Instagram.

Seems like a no win solution for the brewery. If there's a short window these beers are shelf stable they wouldn't want 2-3 of these weeks to be in their back room. A lot of these beers are traded too so the trade recipients probably get them at the optimum time. Not that a brewery should be concerned about trading but it does help bring hype/exposure, etc.

I was going to say: "2028: I only drink hop extract packaged today", but I didn't think that was very funny, so I didn't.

Come on really? What do you expect a brewery to do? It is up to the consumer to decide when they want to drink the beer. I may like my NEIPA after a week....Someone else might like it 2 days old, while someone else might like it a month old....

Also, some NEIPA's are going to age differently...A 2-3 old IPA made mostly with citra might taste differently than one made mostly of mosaic....

one of my questions was "do brewers care?" I hope they do. Looking for thoughts from all.

Let me say I'm sorry about it being odd.....I just think it would be a monumental endeavor to release a beer after it's been sitting for a few weeks with the idea that it's at its best at that particular time.....

I don't care that you said it's odd. You're entitled to your opinion. It would be a monumental endeavor. Someone above noted that many breweries would have no room to do such a thing.

And to clarify now that I reread my comment when I said "I hope they do" I didn't mean I hope they care. I meant I hope they comment.
