I had 2 bottles from 12/11. Drank the second one last night and shared with friends. This bottle poured and drank like my first and looked a lot like your latter photo @Jangoon24 . I even kept it inverted for several minutes before pouring like recommended. One buddy just ended up with a bunch of floaties was really the only difference.

It was still good but it was light for a DIPA. In fact, having it after Mosaic Pseudo there was no noticeable jump in ABV or boldness of flavor (which speaks to Mosaic Sue of course too)

I love fresh Pompeii, I think it’s a near perfect mosaic pale ale.

The Pompeii I just had on tap this weekend reminded me of Sue of old. Circus ‘14. It wasn’t hazy, just lightly translucent. Had a beautiful soft aroma, and a gentle lingering finish that was super refreshing.

This new Sue isn’t the same. It’s really good and it’s going to create hype because we all live for the gram now, but if I had to choose 1 version, I’d take the old classic.

I finally cracked my Mosaic Sue tonight and couldn’t finish it. I got soap and carrots in the nose and taste. Despite having some really good experiences with TG’s stuff a year or so ago, these latest releases have been off the mark for me. I know I’m in small group of people that think that, though. I think I’ll hold off on buying anymore of their stuff for awhile.

In the vein of the self righteous "did you let it warm up thread'- did you thoroughly wash and rinse the cup you borrowed from your kid's vegetable soup?:stuck_out_tongue:

Crap, you got me...I put it in the microwave, then put it in my kids soup thermos after only half-assedly washing it. :grimacing:

I cracked a King Sue last night from the 12/11 batch last night. I have never had King Sue before so don't have a reference to the "good 'ole " days or the previous batches and am skeptical I'll like any IPAs over 7%. I was quite scared after reading on here how the 12/11 is a lesser batch to the point I texted my GF who was at the liquor store not to pick any up due to the variations. I'm glad she didn't get my text until afterwards. The first sip of King Sue was nice citrusy hops and rubbing alcohol. I let it sit for a few more minutes and every sip after that was amazing as the alcohol notes disappeared and the hops started to bloom. I prefer lighter crisp beers and this was great for a DIPA, a style I don't normally like as they are usually boozy, syrupy sweet or too malty. The 12/11 King Sue was crisp and vibrant like the TG IPAs/Pales, juicy citrus mainly with subtle tropical hints. I can't imagine what the 12/4 batch was like if it was so much better because I'm digging this beer.

Really digging the new Sue. I was fortunate (or so I thought) to find King Sue at Garfield's in Palatine. They had to get it from the back, as it wasn't yet on the shelf. They ring it up...$14.99. couldn't believe it. Told them that was outrageous and left.

Has there been any new shipment of Sue yet (i.e. one with can dates)?

Just bought a 4pk of pseudo in a cardboard box that’s “Iowa brewed”. Bought it from the same location that received a ‘new shipment’... it’s fucking gross. Oxidized with floaters

    Fuck TG

That sounds like can failure and not an issue with the beer itself ... that beer was just brewed and shouldn't be oxidized already. I'd contact TG and bring it to their attention.

Also, where was this purchased? This may be a hyper-specific problem as FBarber indicated

My IA Sue’s have had tons of floaters but I don’t think they’re oxidized.

Purchased them at wheeling binnys. I bought some before Xmas there that were excellent. Bought some yesterday that were aweful. They said they got a new shipment in, so it must be a different batch or canning run. No way to tell without an ink stamp

Maybe “fuck TG” was harsh.... but it’s the first beer that I drain poured in about a year. The last one was an infected BA old Rasputin...

I just had my last can of a 4 pack and it was as great as the first 3. So maybe an off can?

The Mosaic DH though wasn’t nearly as good. Got onions in the way I’ve sometimes seen with simcoe. Still an ok beer but way worse than I’d hoped.

I've bought 2 4 packs of Iowa Sue. First one was from Binny's LP right when they came out the week before Christmas. No dates on either of the cardboard boxes to know whether or not they were same batch.

First one was perfection. Hazy, juicy, super drinkable. Would buy all day if this is what I'd get.

2nd one was about a week and a half ago from a Trader Joe's by my house. 2nd one was not even close to being as good. Unfiltered looking, but not completely opaque like the 1st 4 pack and tons of floaties. Nowhere near as juicy tasting. Wouldn't buy again if this is what I'd get.
