I concur. I haven't tried Black Gold yet either, but if I come up with some good trade bait, I know a BA (who will certainly be reading this post), who may be willing to part with a bottle. :sunglasses:

It's warmed up to 3 degrees, with a wind chill of -17. Staying inside.

Good morning BA! Another chilly morn here in NW PA - just a dusting of snow in the last 24. The local weather guessers say the January thaw is about to start. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

My first beer of the day was one that could appeal to people who are non-craft beer drinkers, or even those who do not like beer at all. This beer is strictly for craft beer fanatics, or (as I would describe myself), craft beer vikings.

The task of de-Christmas-ing this house isn't for the faint of heart.:anguished: I better get in the proper frame of mind with one of the leftovers. I don't purchase as many Christmas beers as I used to, but usually have a few varieties on hand for guests that appreciate them. This is an easy drinker with no crazy cookie spices that usually turn me off. Bailey with the photo bomb and ready to 'help'. Cheers to wild card Saturday!

Starting light with another one from my Chicagoland haul: 18th Street's Cascade Express (4.5%). If this was available near me year round, I would be pounding them on a regular basis. A really nice light ale made for porch-sittin', lawn-mowin' and sports-ballz-watchin'. Seriously. Clean, zippy, piney, and grassy.
    Cheers.

One of many reasons why I get up earlier than Mrs. Z. I’m usually done with my first one long before she gets out of bed!

    Wow - she's a beaut...

And this beer's not too shabby either...
Pineapple and pine on the nose, followed by soft citrus and grapefruit pith, and a rounding pine earthiness on the sip... Taut, gripping bitterness, and a very subdued sweetness make for a very refined drink... Softly carbonated but with a dry, spicy tingle... A real winner...

    Howie Long, 58 today...

Man, he was the real deal on the field - not a fan of the Raiders, but he was awesome... Turned out to be one of my favorite personalities on TV - looks like he could still play - damn good genes - sons Chris (Philly) and Kyle (Bears) also play, and third son, Howie, Jr., works in player personnel (Raiders)... Like the Mannings and the Matthews, quite a football lineage...

Steeler Nation (and Gang Green) nod to James Farrior, too, 43 today...
Ndamukong Suh and Jameis Winston also birthday boys today, as well as retirees Asante Samuel and Bubba Franks... Good day to be born a football player apparently... lol...

Looking forward to some Wild Card action later, and no half steppin'...

    Cheers...

Just an excuse to extend the season of lights during a cold dark time of year. I did my time in a couple Chicago Catholic schools with nuns as well! :innocent: I'm sure it was one of many lessons beaten into my young thick skull.

Beer for me and champagne for the wife. I got a 120 chilling in the fridge and I think it'd be interesting to compare this Gnarlywine with it. See if the 120 is worth the price of admission. The Gnarlywine is tasting super hoppy like it should right now.
