Other Half Brewing January 2018

Some of those are already a little "old" and that cooler is pretty deep. It doesn't look like they're flying off the shelves

 

Arrived at 9:30. Waited about ten mins. In and out in 2 mins. Probably could’ve went back for seconds.

 

No line, taproom is chill, good day to come out. Plenty of Citra behind the bar as well.

 

Just curious, has anyone ever held a meetup for the regulars in this thread? There are some really cool people that I would like to grab a beer with sometime.

Also unrelated, I did a comparison test between regular AGE and and DDH AGE, and maybe its because the cans are like 3-4 months old but I liked the old AGE a little bit better. They're both pretty juicy but the original has some nice piney notes and bitterness to balance it out. I think the DDH AGE was better fresh though, it was a juice bomb and now some of that has mellowed.

 

I am sure there are a bunch of people on this thread who have hung out with others from here, I know I have. I cant speak for the 4 years of OH and this thread, but back in the day in fall of 2014 we did one we organized here, it was cool to meet other BAers. @Kanger , @Msudukie , @EnthusedAboutBeer , @SkiBum22 were there and I am sure others I can't remember. Good thing is I still see these guys either regularly or from time to time.

If someone takes the initiative to organize something, I am sure a bunch of people would go.

They are out of Cream of Broccoli cans

 

In my usual tradition of saying one thing and doing another, I decided to go to Other Half a little after opening time today to grab cans. Fairly painless experience overall.

Drinking DDH Cream of Broccoli now. It's good, but still pretty green/vegetal. Could definitely benefit from a week or two.

 

The DDH Broccoli is now drinking better than it was last week.

 

My OH wish for 2018 is the return of Greenbacks.

Ha. Probably. It blew my mind 3-4 years ago.

 

I loved this beer back in the day. They had it at 5 boro beer fest in 2015, I went back for more pours so many times it was getting embarrassing. I suspect like many other beers, as @M-Fox24 says we would be underwhelmed.

While we are at it, loved Doug back in the day, really good black IPA, would be interesting to get that one again or a 2.0 version of it.

 

Old school Other Half from summer of 2014! Note the price for tasters! Good times back then with legendary BA @cavedave , @JGam115 , @Hirshi and others!

 

4 tasters for $5. You get one at a time, Anthony would keep track on a pad when you had one! Great deal and great service from him! Also, people would bring beer to OH, invariably they would end up in the glasses of people hanging out, some memorable random of pours of Cantillion there! And Anthony would invariably send me home with some cans of other breweries from the stash for my train ride home!

Great times!

 

That was a great place back then, of course it still is, I guess more people know about it is the difference, the beer still rocks. Fun times man, remember 'em fondly.

 

My friend who is not a beer geek still talks about hanging out with "Cavedave"! I still have pictures of that day somewhere!

And while we are reminiscing although we have never met, I am pretty sure the artist formerly known as rollom, now known as @rozzom was there back in the day!

 

Funny you two never met, I would guess the law of averages would have put you together at OH at some point.

I really hafta make it down again, we should do a get together not just you and me but a bunch of us. Do you guys have regular get togethers at OH? Would love to join for one, maybe in Spring?

 

Still hoping that they decide to bring back Cool Summer, Bro! someday. Other Half used to make some awesome brett beer
