Fresh is a joke, year old is like getting a fruitcake. Don't consume it, just re-gift.

I did. Back to the friend who gave it to me. Keeping it around the house while resisting the urge to throw it in the trash was the difficult part. Looks like lime a rita has quite a following here

I LOVE Bud Clamato. Haven’t tried it aged yet.

OP, I’ve skimmed through the thread, I haven’t noticed this being made clear yet; are we talking singles, or 4/6 packs here?

See if you can find Modelo chelada - it's better. Clerk at Spec's was raving about it. She was right.
Back to the OP, my favorite beer is free and cold. Combine this with my chelada recommendation and I've probably lost all credibility here, but I'll continue. My mom gets me Beer of the Month. Some are good. Some not. I leave the "nots" in random coolers or friend's fridge at parties. When I was playing soccer, I'd throw them in the post-game beer cooler. The ones that are OK, but not a style I really like, I trade with friends. Hell, even the ones I like I trade with friends.

I hope you're not the kind of person who thinks they're quite perceptive about others because you are way off the mark.

I don't chase whales, I don't stand in line for special releases, I don't pay exorbitant prices for beers, I don't go on long trips or do trades to get out-of-market legends, nor do I jump on the bandwagon over the next big thing. I don't even have hipster facial hair or a man bun.

Also, as I wrote in the OP, I don't get all beer snobby when I get a gift of beer I really don't want. I just smile and politely say "thank you."

And no, I don't look up scores before I try a beer. Don't even have a smart phone. If I want to try a beer I haven't had before, I purchase a single. The only reason I listed the scores on some of the beers I was referring to was because riegler asked me to name some of the beers I got, so I thought I would include the ratings.

If you reread my posts, the problem I have is with receiving odd beers, like contract brews (folded mountain), beers whose only claim to quality is label art or beers with flavorings, like chocolate peanut brittle. I don't need or want to try the latter type because I don't like flavorings in beer. About the only time I eat peanut butter is occasionally on toast (not in candy or desserts) so sure as shootin' I'm not going to drink a beer with peanut butter flavor in it.

But thanks for your 2 cents which motivated me to clarify my situation.

Having sifted through some of this thread, I'll stick with my gut reaction to reading this thread's title:

Unwanted beer? What the hell is *THAT*?

After all, you don't get to claim Ultimate BA of the Multiverse without reviewing every single beer in the database, Bud Light & Clamato Chelada included, right?

I'm the same way. I feel slightly bad about it but for something like this that may recurring I have I be detailed about it.

I got a 22 oz Backwoods Bastard that I know in theory is a good beer, but I am a stout person, so I will try to trade it in a 2 for 1 for someone who likes that.

"But I'd like the pie heated, and I don't want the ice cream on top, I want it on the side. And I'd like strawberry instead of vanilla if you have it. If not, then no ice cream, just whipped cream, but only if it's real. If it's out of a can, then nothing."

...Pretty much sums up my feelings on the subject. It's beer. Drink it. why not try the peanut butter beer first instead of saying how much you hate the idea of it?

    Let me tell you, folks...
There are few things in life more satisfying to witness than a warm, shaken, can of expired IPA blow 15 ft. in the air after being hit by a .308 at close range...
    Smells great too!:stuck_out_tongue:

    1. No. The closest for me was the "Beer Of The Month" club Mrs. O gave me for Christmas a couple of times. Very "beginner beer nerd" offering, I got to try a lot of beers I wouldn't normally try/purchase. None were terrible, none were world-class, when they started repeating, I told her and she dropped it. Win/Win.

    B. Referring to my #1, sounds like you'll have an opportunity to do a lot of ticking.

Your glass should always be considered half full .....
