Demo 15 is just as good. These guys have been doing a great job across a variety of styles

One of my favorite Pale Ales ever. It's pretty much between that and Upper Pass' First Drop.

I was just at a local packy that mostly deals in wine but sells some higher-end beer as well. They haven't invested in extensive coolers, just one two-doored box standing lonesome in the corner. The proprietor told me that they'd just received a big shipment of (mostly) IPAs from Exhibit A -- a couple varieties of Demo Tapes, Hare Raiser, Cat's Meow -- and that part of the deal was that they had to keep it refrigerated, so she'd had to stuff it all into that sole cooler. She fretted that a single brewery's offerings were taking up all that cooler space, but soon enough realized it wouldn't be a problem because by the third day from the drop (i.e., today), all that was left were a couple four-packs of Cat's Meow. I grabbed one.

    Exhibit A's doing alright, huh?

in our taproom and what we ask our retail partners to set prices to:
    DT 14 = $16/4pk
    DT15=$19/4pk

Glad to hear they are keeping our beer in the fridge. We really appreciate when our retail partners do the right thing and honor our requirement for this. What store? Love to give them some love for the love they give us.

Having a Cats Meow for the first time in several months. Very flat. Moderately aggressive pour leaves next to no head. Has it always been this low carbed?

I've had that problem with all Exhibit A cans I've purchased.

Even giving a full can a squeeze there seems to be little pressure in there.

The following is an excerpt from my review of Cats Meow from April 9th...

'...I've poured three separate cans into three different glasses now and each looked wildly different. The nonic looked pretty good, the pub glass looked excellent and the spiegelau looked insanely delicious, like a magazine cover, all whipped froth and crazy. Use a spiegelau. Yes, it's just a glass; no, I don't know why. Just do it).'

    Your results may vary.

I haven't really noticed this issue. Cracked a can of Demo Tape 12 Rewind last night and got a nice head on the pour. Carb was soft, perhaps I would have preferred a bit more of it, but nothing I'd classify as a significant issue or defect.

DT 14 is legit. The Vic really stands out. I wish they had more stores just south of Boston with cans.

Flavors are generally good across the board but even as someone who doesn't need/want highly carbed beer, I find too many of the cans to be too flat, so I've stopped buying those. Surprised I'm the only one who's noted this because it's fairly glaring to me. Fortunately I live close enough so that I still stop in for a draft pours because most of the beers are good and carb isn't an issue on draft there.

    Just an FYI
We carb every hop forward beer to ~2.6vols of CO2. This level is certainly plenty to sense it and have a nice sparkle on the tongue. We keg and can off the same batch on the same day generally. Yes, the canning process likely drops the CO2 vol a touch (maybe .01-.03vols from what I have read), but not significantly enough for your palate. We also pour our draft with a 70/30 blend of CO2/N2 so the draft I would argue has less 'carbonation on the palate' That being said, it is easy to foam up draft beer which may be giving you a visual perspective that changes how your palate actually senses things. (just a thought)

I do appreciate people's opinions on our beers and please understand that every batch is a little different. Most breweries would agree that this is the case with their beers too. So to just stop buying something because you had an issue months back seems short sighted. Especially since you seem to be a fan. We learn every single day. Give our cans another shot, we are getting better at this canning thing everyday.

when you say flat, do you mean no carb, or no head? I get it, a carbonated beer should offer head, but this beer's design makes it tough sometimes. We have worked on it aggressively. To be specific, we have added more 'foam inducing' malts to the bill over the last several months to improve head retention. The carbonation level is not changed much at all since we got started. ~2.6vols. Come to the brewery, I would be happy to replace the cans you were unhappy with. Ask for me

I appreciate the technical info but not the presumptions. My choice to stop buying cans isn't short sighted as it was not based on one issue months back. It's been recurring over time, and even so recently as the cans I purchased a few weeks ago of DT-12 Rewind. And yes, the appearance of head counts a lot, good point. That's why I find the draft pours more enjoyable; the head from can pours dissipate almost immediately for me on top of feeling a little soft in carb.
