Are any of you Iowegians going to the Hy-Vee Craft Beer and Wine tasting at the Coralville Marriott on Friday night? I'm going to be in Iowa City (from the Twin Cities) and I got a list of the vendors that are going to be there, it looks like a pretty decent lineup. I was thinking of bringing down some other tasty stuff to share if anybody's interested.

You would think there would be a link, wouldn't you? Apparently they're not interested in getting many folks to attend:slight_smile: It took me a lot of digging to find out what's going on, I finally emailed the Wine & Spirits Manager for the Iowa City Hy-Vee, who sent me a PDF of the set up. It's nothing to write home about, but there are enough (Iowa) breweries that I'm not familiar with that I'll probably check it out. If you would like me to forward the PDF to you send me your email via a PM ("conversation").
    Cheers!

Hello guys. I am heading to the Quad Cities on Oct. 21st and heading out on the 26th. It has been a few years since I have been in the area so interested in what is new. I guess RIBCO is going to be one of my stops. What about bottle shops? The Hy-Vee in Milan is the most convenient for me but the last review makes it sound like they suck now. Any other places worth visiting? I am planning on stopping at Toppling Goliath on my way down which I am looking forward to.

My nights will be free so if anyone wants to meet and would want me to bring some MN beer, this could be arranged. Thanks.

Ahh hell! I can't type to save my life. I went down there last Wednesday, it was a Roller Dam Red "tea-bagged with Amarillo Gold hops". It wasn't great, but it was worth the $4 for a pint of it.

    Check yo' messages!

Just so y'all know, RIBCO just tapped both Founder's Harvest Ale and Firestone Walker Wookey Jack.

Also, great to meet you, morimech! Hope you enjoyed RIBCO on Monday, it turned out to be a damn good night. Love me some Black Metal.

I've been coming to the QC since 2001 and still haven't made it into RIBCO. I'll need to make it a point when I'm in town next month...

If you're nice to me, I can try to grease the wheels of industry and see if I can't get a great barrel tapped when you're in town.

By nice to mean, I mean something a boat trip(hint hint wink wink nudge nudge)

Ha, you know me man. I'll get a growler if I can, and you're first on my list! Worst case scenario, you'll be drinking a pint of Mango Mama as a consolation. :sunglasses:

RIBCO is having a CBS, KBS, and FBS breakfast on 12/1 - here's what I just posted in the Great Lakes forum:

Limited number of tickets being sold. Attendees will get an 8oz snifter of CBS, an 8oz snifter of KBS, a full pint of FBS, and will get to keep all glassware. The snifters were specially made for RIBCO, and they are awesome, and the FBS will be poured in a Founders' Breakfast Stout pint. The breakfast will be pancakes, eggs, bacon, and Canadian bacon. Backwoods Bastard will also be on tap, bombers of Frangelic will be available, and there are a couple of surprises in store, as well, that I can't mention yet. Tickets are $45 - last year was an epic day from all accounts. This year looks like it's going to be even better.

Don't miss it. Come find me at the event and I will have something delicious to share.
