Good Morning BA, have a great Saturday! Looking like another bitter cold windy day out there once again, after the brief heat wave we had 2 days ago.

Havent had this in 4 years. Excellent amber ale. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, orange peel, pine, and light pepper/ginger; with moderate caramel, toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop/spice earthiness. Light-moderate pine/citrus peel/grassy bitterness and light ginger spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body. Creamy/bready malts and some sticky hops/spice in the mouthfeel. Slight resin/rinds, increasing bitter/spice dryness. Never astringent. Mild increasing ginger spice heat on the finish. Very drinkable. Just as good as I remember. Balanced C hops and dark/bready malts; with pleasant ginger spice presence that isn't overdone. Delicious. Been buying a lot of Revolution since we got them in the state. Just got the newest Hero IPA 12 pack.

Always incredible stuff. They dropped the price by 2 dollars, so I picked up a fresh 6 pack last week. Aromas and flavors of huge bright grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine; with some honey, light caramel, lightly toasted bread malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body and moderately crisp finishing. Balanced grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops/fruit in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin/rind dryness, no hop/fruit astringency. Quite aggressive, but easy drinking. Same amazing hop profile of the base beer, with huge vibrant grapefruit zest presence. Love it just as much as regular sculpin for the most part, but the aromas are definitely more impressive. Will get a pack of the base beer when I finish this off for sure.

Incredible as always. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with wheat, biscuit, white bread dough, light honey malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, grassy, citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; bready/grainy wheat/oat creaminess and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very dank and juicy hops, with perfect malt balance. Never overly sweet/heavy. Super easy drinking. Glad to have this as a year round available beer. They stopped making Boxer for some reason, but it will be back soon under some other name. It's amazing how many outstanding local NEIPAs we have now, I have plenty of favorites that I rotate through. And it all happened in a single year's time. This one has been seeing batch improvements since I first had it earlier last year. This one is tasting exceptionally soft on the mouthfeel than the first few batches. Definitely need to get another pack, this is always in the fridge now.

This is fantastic! Bought 3 2017 bottles a couple months ago, split a case with a few people. Aromas and flavors of huge caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, brown bread, raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, cherry, sherry, apple, bourbon, and toasted oak; with lighter notes of leather, tobacco, chocolate, vanilla, and coconut. Light herbal bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness against sweetness on the finish. Very full bodied creamy/slick and lightly syrupy mouthfeel; touch of oak tannins and dryness. Insanely smooth sipper, minimal warming 14%. Zero barrel booze at all. This is definitely way smoother and less boozy than when I reviewed a 1 year aged bottle in 2015, which is surprising. Still not completely blowing me away, but it's an amazing English Barleywine all around. Perfectly balanced fruity yeast, sweet malts, and bourbon barrels. My reviews reflect that I was more impressed with the base beer actually. Will still gladly buy more next release. English barleywines are my favorite style, and this just completely hits the spot. Very well worth the price.

Couldn't fall back asleep after dozing off on the couch for a while. Don't have to work today, don't have much to do, so I figured I might as well get up and drink a Chicago area beer while I build some Chicago buildings. But if I don't get a nap sometime today, I'm probably going to start looking like Vlad.

The missing link between Pilsner and Pale Ale. All in all this is surprsingly good, especially compared to Störtebeker's other offerings. At 1€ per 0,5l bottle, I might even buy it more often.

Temperatures in the 50s and heavy rain have done a job on the snow pack. We're heading into another cold snap, so by tomorrow everything will be ice.
Today is quarterly tax payment day for me. God, I hate writing those checks! Something to look forward to, however is CBS Day at York River Landing.

Good morning BAs! Well, it's eight o'clock in the morning and the usual crowd checks in! Paraphrased for your enjoyment. We actually got some snow last night, about six inches and still coming down, so the lake effect snow from Lake Erie penetrates the sunny south of NW PA for the first time this season. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Disappointing overall. Definitely a sour but beyond that pretty unremarkable. But so was Victory's Red Thunder until it had aged a year or three. Maybe I'll pick up a couple to age.

I originally put this in the six pack I gave my godfather for Christmas, but then I replaced it for a Sierra Nevada Celebration. The things we do for our relatives. On the plus side, drinking it in between sips of the Vlad makes the Vlad even roastier.

More rain is moving through today, and winter will again push this far south as temps drop into the 50s, so I took the dogs for a very long walk. Home now with my breakfast beer:

I finalized my travel arrangements last night...Pliny the Younger will be released on my birthday this year; I’ve always wanted to attend...any bar mates going? Cheers from formerly warm and sunny St. Pete!

Remember? Remember when music came on a flat disc? Remember when you first started getting into better beer? Remember when music came 20 minutes to a side, but in full detail? Remember when WBAYDN would get to 20 pages? Remember when a certain BA would have to forge through those 20 pages to find interesting glassware? Remember?

    Well, we do...

...and maybe you can, too! Join us next month for another triple theme day, just because maybe we can relive all of the above.

*Be sure to remember the date!

Anyhow, we have the GF's friend in town this weekend. She's not a beer drinker, really, but I figured I'd attempt to be hospitable.

*Just kidding, if you've hung around the virtual bar long enough, you know we'll plug this thing often enough in the upcoming weeks. And some of you will still forget

Quite a temperature contrast over the past few days, and ice and snow and blustery winds...I may dig out my cross country sticks and go out later....but first, some hydration
