Call it a rumor, but I hear Olde Rabbits Foot will be released at Foothills December 8th.

I asked at the brewery the other day and heard early December. I'll be there if I can.

I've seen that rumor 2... maybe 3 times on BA. Enough that it's on my calendar!

In past years how many bottles of orf were there? Also bottle limit per person?

Limit has lays been 4. Nt sure how many bottles there have been at the past releases. 1200 maybe? Just a guess.

I'd say around 1200 is an accurate guess. Last year the limit was 4 per person, but there weren't enough people in the initial go-through to sell them all so people started going back through and getting more bottles. I ended up with six and I heard that someone ended up with more than a case. Not for sure why ORF doesn't seem to be as big of a deal as BASC (not had the latter, but after having ORF and SC, it's hard to picture BASC being much better), but there you have it.

Personally, I prefer this to BASC. There, I said it.

They're all great beers, but I prefer Olde Rabbit's Foot to Barrel Aged Sexual Chocolate. And I prefer Event Horizon to both of those.

But who cares about rankings? We're fortunate that NC is home to so many great barrel-aged stouts.

Completely agree. I quite easily bought a case at ORF last year; I was thrilled. By far the best of the ORF/BBLSC/SC triumvirate.

should we be concerned about any of DR's infection problems finding their way into this beer?

It's certainly been a realistic concern in the past...

it's not cold-conditioning in the barrel so they should know before they bottle it, no?

disagree.......Lol......However......it depends on the year for me. 2010 basc was great. 2011 ORF was the best I've had and prefer it to the 2012 basc and the 2011 basc. But the 2010 basc trumps all. The 2010 ORF had infection problems from what I've heard, but I didn't experience any. And neither did my trading partners.....at least they haven't told me anything.

    Did you follow that? :grinning:

This is usually released in August, was delayed so they could be sure that DR got their infection issues resolved before they sent them this batch. Has been tested to check that it wasn't infected before blending from what I was told.

So you are saying after years of infection issues on most of thier labels, they actually have it "under control" now?

Just so y'all know, this years is supposed to have Event Horizon in it instead of barrel aged imperial stout. I hope I can get my hands on some!

At least for the batch used in this beer. Sounds like Foothills was super careful and cautious since DR had been having issues.
