Binny's heard I was out of town, so had a 15% off coupon last weekend (Saturday-only). Good on wine, liquor and beer, I believe.

It's a big deal cuz their coupons are almost never valid on beer. Now you're caught up.

Both Prairie BA beers are at Binny's Grand today as well, if anyone cares.

If anyone has an leads on Marz LevelEater 8.88 in the city, let me know. Wasn't able to run over to Beer Temple last night and assume they sold out, even though I have no idea how in demand a BarleyQuad will be...

This is...mostly off topic, but a part of my wonders how much worse the lines or quick sell outs in Chicago would be if Amazon opens their second headquarters, aka "HQ2", in Chicago.

Seems like a pretty large influx of the type of people to Chicago (presumably many people would be moving there rather than hired from Chicago) that have high potential to be interested in craft.

    Or maybe I am projecting.

I would love Amazon HQ2 in Chicago, but I can't see that happening given the current city infrastructure in the area they proposed at the ole' Finkle Steel site....Adding 50,000 people per day to an area with roads that can't be widened makes for gridlock.

That 50k number is insane. By the time this thing gets built every job except CEO will be performed by robots and AI....

Oh shit, that's where they want to build it?

I hope they fly everyone in via helicopter; that's fucking with my Binny's route!

Lincoln Yards is only one of the proposed locations, they also proposed The 78 area between The South Loop & China Town,
    The Old Post Office Building,
    and a few others.
The city would need to address a lot of problems before this happens!

you aren't projecting, I get to Seattle 5 times a year for work & it's a real thing there (not just with beer, but housing, traffic, etc.) Lots of new money trend chasers. The locals call all the people relocating Amazonians & the area around their current HQ Amazonia & neither are terms of endearment....

That's one of the areas Chicago proposed. I'm sure there is Fulton market potential or the site on that giant former steel lot on the South side or the former Michael Reese Site

And to be honest, whoever gets Amazon will probably wind up losing. They are going to get raked over the coals for concessions....

FWIW, one piece I read yesterday about "the pros and cons of the leading finalist locations for HQ2" in one of the business rags didn't even evaluate Chicago because we seem like an also-ran. I'd love to see it be built in Chicago but hate to see what kind of tax giveaways the city and state would have to give them.

Also, Chicago is a great place for stout releases! #OnTopic

I think this is all that needs to be said. I have as much desire to have “HQ2” here as I did to have the Olympics.
