Founders CBS 2017 Release

Heard the reason for the 12oz only in international markets was due to the fact beers with a high ABV like that are only to be sold in smaller packaging, so the 750's would have been a no go. It was a way to get the beer into the hands of their entire customer base.

The reason for not having 12oz available in the US...? No idea, but whatever the answer would be I'm calling bullshit!

 

Yeah general consensus here on BA is that the maple and coffee really drop off after a few months. I too got 3 bottles and had 1 christmas eve, and saving the others for new years and some random weekend in late January/early February.

 

I had my first bottle of this last night and I thought it was excellent. Super balanced, all flavors coming through complimenting each other, and just a hint of barrel. For my tastes, this is a world-class beer!

 

Heading up to Traverse City from Chicago for the weekend. Does anyone know of bottles that are still available anywhere?

We cracked one last night...astounding how much better the bottles have proven to be v. draft pours. I had a draft flight of Prop '17, Black Note '17, Stone's Mickhael (or whatever their BA coffee stout is called) and CBS last week and the CBS was a far distant fourth!

On tap at The Garage on the Northwest Side, had one today, was excellent.

 

Finally had my bottle of CBS over the weekend, and was not disappointed. It reminded me of what I loved when I had it on tap a couple years ago-Sweet, with the maple and chocolate balancing out the coffee.

Very happy Founders pulled this off.

 

A local (mid-Michigan) party store is advertising $29 64-oz growler fills of CBS today.

 

What mid Michigan party store? My family lives in bay city.

 

Oades Big Ten in East Lansing. I know that's not exactly close to Bay City.

 

Three of my four draft pours have sucked. Bottles seem so much better with this batch!
