I've only been twice, as don't live nearby. Four months ago I stopped early in the afternoon. Halfway through my lunch the obnoxiously loud death metal started. (I get the style; that suits the place. But not the volume that time of day.) Away from the bar area it wasn't as bad.

The service and food were decent though. I'll go back for the beer.

I'm guessing the smiley face he used means he was being sarcastic. However, to add my two cents, I go from work in a suit all the time and have only had good service and never any demeaning attitudes.

I know of no other type of metal music but loud, so not sure of the complaints in that area. I don't recommend Kuma's for those that find metal annoying.

I've never had an issue with service there, and I have been there many times. Every server and staff member has been helpful, and I have been there when it was crowded and dead. I highly recommend going. And ask them for any loose bottles of BA DL.....they love that.

I will do both. However, I don't think I'll be there next Tuesday but possibly the Tues after.

    Anyone with experience there...

We will be getting to Munster (staying in Merrilville) around 5PM Friday. Since they are open late, is it worth heading over at 9PM on Friday for late dinner and to go grabs, or get there 10AMish on Saturday morning? Just trying to get a feel for the crowds late, as opposed to Saturday midday. Thanks.

Bottom line - I don't know when or if I'll be this close to the place again but I'm hoping the Tuesday afternoon before T-Day won't make me wait.

Saturday will be a madhouse no matter what time you arrive because that's the day they do the brewery tours.
HOWEVER: if you do go Saturday, take the tour. Everybody exiting the tour gets bumped to the top of the wait list for seating. I know this from being the guy who didn't take the tour.

Wow if listening to slightly louder than average rock, played on a crisp vinyl record player, is that big of a turnoff than you should probably stick to sipping wine at your local joint.

Yes you should go. Try and stay away at rush hour on weekdays, southbound off of 80 can be annoying not to mention 80 or any other hwy itself.

Remember that brew served by the pint you can always order a half

15 visits over 4 years, nothing but the absolute best service every time. They have revised the menu a bit (no they don't have the pretzel burger) but it does include some fantastic offerings. Burgers with foie gras, pork belly and egg over fried rice, and the new pizza combinations are rather unique, look forward to trying on next visit. They will probably still have Broo Doo, and yes, they are generous with samples. Pretty special place in my view.

I love going to FFF. The staff is always very nice and seem to really know their shit about craft beers. Lunch is definitely the time to go (during the week). Same food and drinks and little to no crowds.

I live in Chicago and make frequent trips out to 3 Floyds. Mostly it's to go and by beer from their takeout. But, if you've never been there it is definitely a place you should experience. You can probably skip the brewery tour, it's not all that exciting. But the Pub itself is an awesome place to go and hang out.

You can't go wrong with most any of their beers and their food is awesome. Plus the pub itself is pretty unique place in terms of the atmosphere. The worst part about it is the wait. On a Saturday, you've got to figure you're going to wait at least an hour - hour and a half. Wouldn't be bad if there was an outdoor patio where you could enjoy a beer. But as I said, food/beer worth it at least once.

I'd suggest you go Friday night. Saturday's just ridiculous. Seriously. It's just a madhouse, and you'll have to wait until they open at noon anyways.

This is pretty much the direction I've been leaning since reading through this thread. It will give us more time on Saturday to hit the Chicago brewpubs, without worry of getting hung up with long waits at every turn here.

Still trying to justify in my mind, heading to Kalamazoo/Grand rapids on Sunday, then staring down a 8-9 drive home....
