If this was posted every Friday for the rest of the year i wouldn’t complain, good post, no complaining or questions about infection, no price per ounce debates, plain and simple

What you're saying is true but the BottleHouse is somehow filling a need because every time I've stopped in they've had a good sized to large crowd. Whether that will drop off is impossible to tell but they've developed a good base and their beers have gotten better with time.

I am somewhat curious about this and I haven't bought a beer from them (bottle, draft, etc...) in at least 2 years. Dare I ask what it's going for?

I don't know yet but I heard they're going to be 12oz bottles. Won't be able to confirm until tomorrow.

Love Baltic Argonaut but always felt the price was a little steep for a non BA brew. Like $9 a 16oz can I think? (I'm not local) But am surprised that BA is only $10 a 375. Sounds awesome!

$8 per 12oz. Possibly their most whiskey forward beer, solid though. Also it and the pepper jelly are on draft now.
Been a long time since I been down, might have to stop soon!

FWIW, my local store received both the rye whiskey and the port BA Baltic Argonauts yesterday (Fri.). So, obviously, it's being distributed.

I added those three Baltic Argonaut variants to BA so we can start rating them. Picked up one of each at Belmont today. I have high expectations based on the BA Baltic Argonaut from 2015.

Wish I was closer. I'm out in NE Ohio and we don't get any Warped Wing distro to my knowledge unfortunately. But the info is much appreciated!

Is that what you tell people that buy a bottle straight off of a store shelf when it's already sour?

Look, I've already said I like to open and enjoy these fresh right off the bat, but I do like to cellar after that too--some of the best beer experiences I've had have been from cellared beers that have developed added complexity and smoothness with time. Two or three of those actually include Jackie O's stouts or stout blends.

This simply does not happen with other brewery's of this size and renowned at this kind of frequency. If it did, you'd never stop hearing about infections on a daily basis due to the numbers of bottles that are many months old sitting on store selves all across the world produced by all kinds of breweries .

We give JO's a lot of slack around here. Look at the kinds of shitstorms breweries like Odd Side have endured in the past. It looks like JO's will continue to get the benefit of the doubt by our community for the most part, and hopefully this next push to address this issue is the last one they have to make. But if it isn't, I think they will experience a permanent and deep setback to their reputation.

A stout aged in oak barrels has a much higher chance of being contaminated. Which is exactly why I've been saying consumers shouldn't be aging those styles of stout.

It's far easier for the consumer to drink the beer while it's fresh than it is for the brewer to keep contaminates out of oak barrels.

Jackie O's has had several similar situations in the past. Back when barrel aged releases were in bomber. Happened often, in fact. That's the nature of oak aging, more or less.

But you mustn't misconstrue my stance on aging barrel aged and infused beer as a belief that there are no beers that could possibly improve with age. There definitely are. But one must use discretion when doing so.

I get it though. For $12 you want a prize. You want several sitting around as a measure of the prowess of your palate. There's an entire culture that believes an older beer is more valuable than a fresh one. So when bottles start going bad or someone challenges the value of your cellar's contents you freak out.

And spare me the thing about buying it already old. Do you buy old IPA expecting it to be great? If the IPA has no date and you don't know how long it's sat there don't you just pass it up? Why do stouts have to have an exception to this behavior?

I guess I've been lucky with Jackie O's bottles. I've opened bottles on the "infected" list quite recently, including 2 Black Masks within the last 3 weeks, and they've all been spot-on.

Agreed, I haven't ever had a problem with any of my bottles. I do still have a BB Oro left though, so maybe I'll get my first experience when I open it up.
