New to Ohio (2018)

I just re-upped on BB Oro at Lizardville and it was amazing. Tasted very close to the '16 I had on draft at the anny party and that was my favorite ever.

 

Sorry if this is somewhere obvious, but could someone post the list of potentially infected JO bottles? Just picked up a handful of them....

 

I don't think there has been a comprehensive list posted. I would wait until the official announcement from Jackie O's, which should be coming soon.

It's really not worth arguing with him at this point. He needs to feel superior to everyone and chose this hill to die on for whatever reason.

I was pleasantly surprised by Pirate Bomb; not sure I'd buy it all the time for $10+ bucks if it was available but it's a nice one-time treat.

 

Yeah at Heinen's I picked up a Prairie Bomb! for $8.99 (they had a few left in their singles cooler) and a Willettized Coffee Stout for $2 which is a world class bargain imo (they had a case in the back; I don't know if it was back there because it just came in or they're holding them but he didn't offer me more than a single). My beer fridge is completely filled.

 

Willettized is not my favorite BA stout by a long shot, but at $2 a bottle I'd buy it if I had a liver transplant surgery the next day.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the price. Considering that Prairie has to go through a fourth tier of distro that is Shelton Bros., and also considering that regular Bomb! is $8.50 around here, I'm surprised a barrel aged version is only a couple bucks more. I definitely expected to pay more than, say a Jackie O's barrel aged beer (which are $12).

And yes, it was a nice treat!

 

For those who care more than IPA’s and Adjunct Stouts, the Zwickerla Helles Lager at Fat Head’s Taphouse right now on draft is godly. Don’t think I’ve had a Helles so damn near perfect (and I drink a lot of them). Easily the best I’ve had! Hoping they throw it into rotation at least once and a while, as I believe this was a one-off.

Their taplist is also pretty epic right now… Of course, JuJu and IBUsive along with all the flagships, but also stacked with killer German-style offerings such as the Vienna Lager, Kolsch, Helles and Smoked Bock.

 

Had the Smoked Bock and Kolsch at the taphouse last night. Both were pretty darn good.

 

Stopping by after work today to grab a growler of the Helles, but also to see how that Smoked Bock is this batch. Have a 1/2 growler with me as well if it's deemed worthy. haha

 

Stopped by Saucy tonight before a concert across the street. Had checked their website before going and decided on a Haters Gonna Grape, a Belgian style strong dark ale fermented in wine barrels, which tasted just fine with the wine factor being nicely understated. What I was surprised to find was that in addition to what was on the website they also had three American Wild Ales that looked very intriguing (a brewery that doesn't update its website; what are the chances?) for future visits, as well as other unlisted brews.

 

Strong rumors from Oklahoma about Pirate Bomb! being really bad this year. Not even close to what it used to be. So if you see some don't buy it. Just PM me the location and I'll gladly volunteer to sacrifice the money for science.

 

Warehouse Beverage got a case of CBS today. They also have BA Dark Apparition w and w/o Vanilla and Coffee beans.

 

Anyone know if Straight Jacket cans have hit yet? I know we got a ton of Deth's Tar in Cleveland about 2 weeks after the release in Chicago. Coming up on 2 weeks since the SJ release now, so hoping for the same.
