Domain area? You are right in the brewery district. Austin Beerworks, Adelberts, 4th Tap, Circle, Oskar Blues, NXNW, and Celis are all right there for breweries. Along with Fairweather Cidery if that is your thing (I am not big into ciders, but they do a good job).

Actually in the Domain? Honestly, the Whole Foods in there has the best tap list out of any place there - there are about 50 taps of beer and mostly good. If you want just a straight bar, then probably Brass Tap. After that, maybe the Yardhouse. It is more chain central for beer bars in that place.

If you are willing to venture a little further out of that area, Pinthouse Pizza is just down Burnet (maybe 10 minutes down) with the Draughthouse a little further. There are other bars in the domain Rock Rose area that will have craft beer, but it isn't aimed at craft beer scene. Gingers has decent beer, but don't expect anything crazy or bartenders to be knowledgeable.

It's my drinking area....I mainly end up at breweries, so I know it well.

Heading up from Houston next weekend. Going to make time for Pinthouse Pizza. What about packaged stuff? Going to look for Lupulin Rodeo and Haze County. Anything else to look for? Is there a current Heavy Machinery? Anything else?

You shouldn't have trouble finding Haze County and you should get it. I wouldn't recommend Lupulin Rodeo. I didn't care for it and I am a big fan of H & G. Maybe try it on draft at the taproom first. H & G also sells beer to go now at the taproom.

No Heavy Machinery right now. But, you might be able to find ABW Ski Jeans (collab with Odell).

Excellent list. It's a shame that the Flying Saucer closed down, as they always had a decent tap list.

I'd also throw Hopfields in there with it being just a bit south of the Domain. Plus they make an outstanding burger. Well worth a rideshare to hit this spot if you've got the time.

Hi All, tagging onto this thread as well. I'm planning my brother's bachelor party and we'll be in Austin the weekend of Feb 24th. There will be 17 guys (I know, my brother needs less friends) and we plan on hitting a brewery or two along with a bar thats good for a large group, ideally with some games to keep folks entertained on Saturday afternoon/evening. We are staying in the Barton Creek area and a Party Bus will be driving us around before dropping us downtown Saturday night. My initial thoughts are to do Austin Beer Works first and then head down to Hops & Grain, Friends & Allies, or Southern Heights. Maybe getting dropped off at either Lazarus or Zilker since they both have food options available. Would love some input on other bars that might be good for large groups that has a decent beer list. (I've seen Full Circle has lots of skeeball/corn hole, HandleBar could maybe work)

Other things on the itinerary are:
I land around 9:30 AM Thursday so have some time to kill before check in at 3:00PM- so I may head straight to Franklin's and just see what the wait is like and either wait it out or going to Pueblo Viejo or Lazarus for breakfast tacos, wandering around the city a bit and then maybe do lunch at Odd Duck before going to WhichCraft to pick up some kegs to bring to the house.

Thursday afternoon/evening- hang at the house while people arrive
Friday- Golf at the UT course at 11:30. Head to Bangers for dinner before going out on Rainey
Saturday-Picking up La Barbecue for lunch and bringing it to the house- drinking/hanging out at the house until the party bus arrives. End up downtown again after the party bus.

    Thanks in advance!

You seem to have a pretty decent route planned out - at least in terms of hitting as many craft breweries as possible.

I'd just add that PintHouse Pizza (very specifically the Lamar location) should be somewhere on your schedule. Food is killer. I do think they have some arcade games. And they might have one or two good brews.

You will regret not going here if you skip it.

Thanks! Forgot to mention that my flight isn't until 3:00 on Sunday, so will probably make Pinthouse my last stop before heading to the airport.

Has this become the general Austin discussion now? If so, it looks like Brewtorium will be opening in the next week or two (know they are doing friends/family soft openings already).. I am optimistic about this place as another good place to grab some beers.

I am not certain Whichcraft sells kegs. Have you confirmed this? ABGB sells kegs of their own beers and is in the same area as Whichcraft and Odd Duck.

Yeah, unless you special order through WhichCraft, I don't think you are getting anything like that.

ABGB is a good choice. Otherwise call a Spec's up and see if they can get what you want.

Yea I emailed with WhichCraft and they said they could help out, but if that doesn't work out, I'll look into ABGB or Specs. Thanks!

I'm going to be in Austin March 7-9, does anyone have a 12 bottle shipper I could buy off of them, or know where I can get one on the cheap?

U-Hual has wine shipping kits that work great for bombers.

Do most carry them at their stores or will I have to call around?

Edit: I just notice the website lets you know where to grab them.

Piggybacking on this thread. Any good releases today? Or places with some NEIPA flowing worth checking out?

PHP Burnet had a new IPA release today and when I was there Thursday night, they had several good IPA options on tap. I don't know that they do anything that a NEIPA snob would consider a full-on NEIPA, but they do a lot of great stuff regardless.

I can probably just give you a styrofoam 12 bottle shipper.

I stopped trading, so I rarely use them anymore. Can't promise it will be the prettiest thing, but based on how much tape and planes it has been on without a causality, I don't mind losing it.

Plus, it could be waterproof by now due to the tape.
