Finest Kind for sure. I actually drank this exclusively at Hop Jam in the cask line, mostly cause the normal lines were such a shit show.
Single Digit Dubbel has been solid beer that the wife and I have been digging lately. News of Smutty being up for auction has caused us to seek out a surplus of that bad boy.
Never tried their porter, thinking I might swing in to Yankee on the way home and grab some since you all seem to enjoy it!

If I could "double like" you post I would! Thanks for your support on the Big A and its resident Boxer...!

Sometimes I wish they would put these auction notices out about a year in advance of them actually happening because all I really want to do right now is go out and stock up on Smuttynose beers both in support of them, and in fear that they might go away - and with all of us doing the same, that should get them to maybe 80% capacity before long and stave off the auction...there, problem solved...!!!

I saw a Whiskey aged something in a store the other day, both in a four pack and in 500 ml, but it wasn't at Julio's and then I couldn't find it on BA...can't remember the name but wonder if anyone has seen / tried that one?

Yeah, Star Island Single was a bad beer. Didn't fit in the lineup and didn't have a natural drinker/consumer. Hanami was just bizarre.

That sounds like a fantastic idea. Making it a smutty weekend.

I’ll join in on the hate train for Star Island Single - that beer sucked.

Even worse, that beer replaced the Portsmouth Lager, another beer I really liked. Was pissed about that one for a while.

The Whiskey Barrel-Aged Really Old Brown Dogs at Julio's were a few years back and only in 22oz bottles. If Smuttynose has another clean barrel-aged beer out there though, I'm definitely interested.

Apple Brandy Barrel-Aged Gravitation was also incredible. Bizarre packaging though. I think it came in something like a 6oz glass bottle wrapped in decorative paper.

Man, so many really. Growing up in Southeastern VT, it was always Smutty, Magic Hat, Pete's Wicked and or Gritty McDuff's readily available at high school parties. I have always loved Smuttynose. My favorites will always be Old Brown Dog, Finestkind and Robust Porter. I feel that I was spoiled with being able to try many of the harder to find offerings. They actually piloted many beers in bombers in local distro markets, sadly by the time that the beers made it into a regular rotation they had changed them quite a bit. Was never a fan of Bouncy House(this may have been one that got retooled), Star Island single or Smistletoe. I absolutely loved Kung-Fu Hobo, Kindestfind, Spank, Big A, Really Old Brown Dog and many of the other Smuttlabs brews. I find it a bit sad that we're already eulogizing and waxing poetic(so to speak) about a brewery that isn't dead yet. I hope they can find a buyer that will keep them alive and infuse them with some NEIPA fruity hazey fresh goodness. Cheers to them! They will always have a special place in my heart.

The larger question being - when is J.D. going to sign on the dotted line...

But almost equally important - the mystery beer in question has been gathering dust for about six months about 2 tenths of a mile away from me at Resevoir Spirits in Cleveland Circle, what I previously thought was just a sleepy Boston College beer outlet...it's called Goody Cole Baltic Porter - Smutty's Baltic Porter aged in Knob Creek barrels that Resevoir did in a collaboration similar to what Julio's did with Old Brown Dog. $23 / four or $9 / 500 ml and sounds like it's not about to run out. Totally stoked on this and am now almost wondering what other Smutty collabs there are out there that haven't quite hit the radar (it did hit Untapped). Cheers!

Finestkind could be spectacular, but it was not consistent. I had a hard time finding it really fresh in my old neighborhood of West Roxbury.

My favorites were Robust Porter & Old Brown Dog. Robust Porter is maybe the best porter in the country - it's criminally underrated in BA. Old Brown Dog is such a simple, unassuming beer. There's nothing much going on, but what is going on is so fine. Just the thing to sip on a fall afternoon, with October light coming in the window, when you simply want to relax.

I'm not in their distro any more, but I do hope you all enjoy it while you can.

Old Brown Dog is THE brown ale for people who don't like brown ales. Excellent beer.

The Variety pack w/ Shoals, Finest, Old Brown Dog and a floating seasonal is one of the best on the market, especially at the price. It's in my regular rotation along with SN and OC. Would be sad to see that one go.

Yeah, you're not thinking of Smuttynose. Confused with other old NE breweries that used Ringwood. But not Smutty.

Surprised there's no mention of the Barleywine big bottle series here. Always looked forward to it's release. I think I still have one in my cellar.

I was a big fan of their Big Beer Series but lost track of them after I think I tried them all - the ones that stood out for me were the Maibock, the Scotch, and especially the Zinneke - but they were all pretty well-done, and very affordable.

To the contrary, I will not miss, nor did I invest much money in any Smuttlabs beers as I thought the ones I tried were hit or miss, and way overpriced (although I would have loved to have gotten my hands on that Apple Brandy Stout that circulated a few years ago...!).

stll sitting on a bunch of old ones. Those were like $5- $6 bombers at the time, and stood up to the big boys!
