I'm still hanging on to a couple of bottles of CBH; has anyone cracked one lately? Wondering how it's drinking now; am I better off opening them sooner than later, or giving them some more time in the cellar? Wondering in particular if the maple notes are holding up?

    Cheers!

The maple notes have fallen off, similar results with CBS, IMHO.

I had some on draft a couple of days ago, It most definitely was not as flavorful as it was when I had it early on in bottle format, but still very delicious. Maple was definitely fading, I would recommend drinking them soon, or sending them my way

I had my most recent bottle in August and it was still quite sweet according to my review. If anything, the semi-abrasive bourbon has smoothed, but the sweetness was still solid. Bear in mind, I cellared it properly. If you keep it in a hot closet it may fall off faster.

Had a bottle last month and it wasn't very good. Cellared properly, but the maple has gone and the bourbon is close behind. Much closer to OC than fresh. Drink now.

Sadly, I agree. Loved this beer fresh. LOVED it. Had a bottle about a month ago and it was pretty good, just not as much of a perfect balance between the maple and bourbon. It was more muted. I still have one bottle, I'll be opening it sooner than later. And sign me up if they decide to bottle this again.

I agree with all the above. My last bottle in September was lacking the maple richness the beer is known for. Drink them sooner than later for certain.

Have to agree. Cracked one open last weekend to celebrate getting engaged (titularly appropriate!), and I thought there was still a good amount of maple, and it was smoothed out nicely. Not quite as good as fresh, but a not a precipitous drop. Don't wait too long though.

this is devastating news. i had one not all that long ago and thought it was still divine. one of my fav brews of recent memory. will have to crack a bottle to see how it is doing. i'm sure i'll still love it so if anyone needs these properly disposed of, please send them to me.

Getting my first bottle in a trade today...I hope I disagree with most of you when I try it.

We'll see though. This information will definitely drive me to try it faster, which is one of the reasons I love BA.

Interesting. I thought this beer was painfully sweet upon initial release (I really liked the old incarnations as Kaiser's), so a reduction in that would be nice, but it would be a shame to lose the maple/bourbon magic. I've got one in the cellar, will have to open it up soon and check it out.

I definitely think you'll like it now then. The sweetness was way toned down.

Opened a bottle last month and it was excellent. Unfortunately I didn't try it fresh, which was probably a mistake but I thoroughly enjoyed it none the less.

Haha, believe me, I still loved the last bottle I had. Just that I had a bottle fresh and loved how hot and maple-y it was. Can't wait to have my last bottle, this is still one of my favorites from Founders.

Was able to grab a bottle when I was in Michigan and was holding off on drinking it, but not I'm thinking I'll crack it open soon. Shame, I wanted to hold on to it longer.

I had it fresh and my other bottle about a month ago. I thought it was not quite what it was fresh but still incredibly tasty. That being said, I'd drink it now.

decided to pop one...although it is still in the warming up phases...i have to say that as it is warming the maple notes are coming out in a big way and the beer seems to be drinking just as i remember it (amazing). perhaps those who found it over the hill drank it too cold? even when this was kaiser curmudgeon i found that too cold it was pretty meh, but as it warms to room temperature, it approaches perfection.

for those who find this one to be past prime, please converse with me, i will happily take these stale beers off your hands. every sip i take seems better than the last.

If any of you hoarders would be willing to trade one I am desperately looking for a bottle. I would be willing to trade a lot.
