TRVE has a Vienna on (Starless Age) that is absolutely killer. Reminds me a lot of the smaller batch lagers you find in Franconia. That one + Cold = fantastic. I'm still baffled that Cold is using straight Saaz hops. They're getting some crazy flavors from that hop.

Seedstock is definitely worth a visit. They're making mostly Czech style lagers. No diacetyl or off notes and their Bohemian dunkel is one of only a few Cerny/Tmave beers I've run into that weren't imports.
Their parking lot will make you think you're at bizzaro world Cerebral. The lot/patio/building/etc. looks the same, only at a different angle.

Picked up a 6er of Good River Gunny Black Lager (Schwarzbier) last night after talking to a sales rep at the store (for some reason I always empathize with how rough that job must be, so I'll usually throw em a bone and buy what they're selling).

Color me very impressed. I can't say I'm very familiar with what a traditional Schwarzbier should taste like, but this one hit all the marks for me. The chocolate/roasty notes up front are almost stout-like but it drinks clean like it a lager should. Highly recommended!

Comrade brewed a Double Pilsner for Collaboration Fest with Upslope and Call to Arms. Weyermann Pils, Loral and Saaz hops. It's getting 12 weeks of tank time and ready to tap on March 31.

If there is one style I hate seeing imperialized, it is pilsners. In my eyes, pilsners are the perfect session/sessionable beer. I am sure this will be good...but that higher ABV is a killer.

I think I just hate the term "imperial pilsner," but I don't mind how most actually turn out. Odell's used to be one of my favorite CO beers. I look at them as a hoppy heller bock and am cool with that,

I miss the Double Pilsner so much. That blackberry gose is not a suitable replacement in their seasonal series.... also loved the owls on the label. Got a Double Pilsner T-shirt that is one of my faves... also a stack of posters that I kinda wallpapered a portion of my garage with- neighbors are jelly'd AF whether they realize it or not.

Fruited gose isn't a replacement for anything except broken dreams. Even a good one is still .
Back in the mid 00's, Odell had quite a few rotating lagers in their tasting room. I don't know if we need another Joe's Pils, Shift, etc. but a seasonal dunkel could work. Grimm Brothers is the only place in the region doing that, and their distro local only. They could even make it a dark Mexican lager a la Negra Modelo.

Is Regal Pils still in production? I know Odell Double Pilsner was discontinued several years ago. There may not be a Colorado produced example anymore.

Wibby's Moondoor Dunkel is solid, I think.

Can't say I've had it. I had the double (which IS good), but it's breaking the mold a bit. Guess I need to hunt town the normal one. We barely even get any German dunkels, too. I've always felt that style could be huge, but not enough people are willing to go for it.

Haven't seen that one in a while, either. The B&B's Uber Duber is still around in bottles, but I think those are from last Spring. That's the only other one I know of.

Double Pilsner was how I learned I that I don't care for the whole imperial pilsner concept. I just want to drink those beers faster than that alcohol content later tells me I should.

If any brewer in Colorado is willing to make a dark-lager-Negra-Modelo-type beer, I'll buy it.

    Probably buy lots of it.

Same. Beerito is probably the closest thing, but it's definitely not the same. Makes me miss Del Norte. People talked all sorts of trash about them 7-8 years ago but their concept would probably work these days.

I was just about to say. I miss Del Norte too.. really wish they were still around. Was hoping that Cheluna would have filled that gap.

Yeah, I mean I really really like Low Rider (and most of their other beers, too), but that's the only beer of that style they make.
Makes me wonder if Mexican lagers are tough to move outside of April/May/June. Kind of like Irish stouts after St. Patrick's day. It's pretty tough to beat Modelo's pricing.

Its funny you mention seasons, because one of the things I like about Negra Modelo is that I can drink it year round. Other Mexican lagers not so much.
